I'm confused. When you said, "We like our team," were you lying? Did things change? Do "we" like it more now? Do you still think this is a playoff team this season? |

hmmm (HT: SCH)...stanbow has now traded away 5 of his former #1 picks...be interesting to see what return was for those players...i don't think much
Blackhawks first-rounders:
2011: Mark McNeill (traded, bust)
2011: Phil Danault (traded)
2012: Teuvo Teravainen (traded)
2013: Ryan Hartman (traded)
2014: Nick Schmaltz (traded)
2015: None
2016: None
and now you at least a few of the reasons this team is having problems
what the hell is is with this AZ-Ch- conncection over the last few years... |

Taking a step back, Colliton must have really not liked what he saw from Schmaltz. Can't imagine schmaltz gets moved this soon after a coaching change without his input especially with schmaltzs production last year, his age, and RFA status - Stan_Bowman
This had to factor into this. Were the Hawks talking with the Schmaltz camp and they were talking stupid?

Loved schmaltz potential but he didn’t show any heart or willingness to engage. Hoping he would find that with the hawks Bc he is talented.
Love this trade. The hawks got more talent back albeit just as unpolished. I think Strome could put up 50 with Kane on his wing. That could be your 2C if he figures it out. Perlini is a big fast guy 22 and scored 17g last year. Perfect depth guy for the 3rd line and young too. |

Johnson being sent down makes total sense now. I'm slow in a lot of ways. |

StanBLOW still hasn't drafted a TOP 6 D-MAN (maybe Jokiharwho breaks that), but MAJOR WHIFF by Bowman and Kelley |

Stan is making irrational moves again now that things have turned sour (firing Q). After the sweep he traded Panarin and Hammer to ‘shake things up’ and we’ve never recovered. Now he trades low on Schmaltz, who I still believe will end up being more valuable than Dcat. You can’t trade young cost controlled talent (Saad, Panarin, TT, Hino, Leddy) unless you’re getting a King’s ransom in return. I don’t believe Strome+Perlini are a kings ransom, but both are still prospects.
Strome is a poor skater, and the league has gotten even faster since he got drafted (went after Eiche). Chayka is filling out another section of his resume titled ‘CALLED STAN WHEN HE WAS DRUNK AND EMOTIONAL’ |

Love it.....Strome and Cat played in Erie....GOOD CHEMISTRY then...and hard to hate on snagging two former first rounders for a big floater like no heart Nick. - philco28[/img]
This!!............. Not a day has gone by the last few yrs I look for a culture change for the organIzation. Not saying this is one of them but the return is not smallish speed that they covet.
Perlini is big man and plays to his size. Not a beast mind you but plays to his 210lbs, but he has some wheels that I'm sure of.

Ok... the blog I just wrote is not worth publishing.
Nick Schmaltz traded for Brendan Perlini and Dylan Strome.
This might be a great trade. I really, rally like Perlini.
I'm not a huge fan of the Strome's to be honest. Let's hope Dylan can figure it out. - Justin Lowe
The issue with the Strome's (all 3 of them) is skating. But at least this guy is a hockey player who can distribute from the middle of the rink instead of doing the Kristie Yamaguchi act out in perimeterville. |

I'll give you that. Schmaltz looked very smooth skating around the entire O zone along the wall very fast. Maybe Az needed that in their system |

Good stuff Rico...at the very least....our GM livened up an other wise lazy Sunday eve. Schmaltz actually looked livelier under Colliton, but guess the time was right.
Perlini makes the deal semi-worth it. He's produced at the NHL level. Strome is the wild card. Hopefully, coach reunites him with the Cat and we ascend on that front and hopefully beyond. Good vision by Stan. Pleased overall with this deal. Was NEVER going to be a fan of No Heart Nick. |

Idk you don’t think Strome can put up 50 with Kane on his wing? Schmaltz hasn’t looked good away from Kane. He floats and is contact adverse. Perlini can be a 40pt 20g guy who skates and has size.
Both guys have size and are prospects yes but so is schmaltz. None of them are finished products. The hawks got more talent back then they gave up and all are young players on ELC. Actually love this trade. If it pans out it’s a huge win for the Hawks rebuild. |
