Fair but most teams carry 23 on their roster. Typically it's 2 extra forwards and a D. - Justin Lowe
Actually it’s about 50/50 between 22/23 man rosters. |

The post was in relation to a vet Dman who could do 10 mins per game on a contender and contribute at playoff time. I wasn't nominating him for the Norris. He is a much bigger asset at the TDL than the 25 defenceman that Stanbo has accumulated, most of whom won't ever play in the NHL.
And to be frank about it all the the Blues Dmen have been crap all year including Pietrangelo and Dunn. And there is no goaltender there to bail out their poor play. - RickJ
So according to you they should all be great TDL acquisitions. |

@ByScottPowers
I sat down with Stan Bowman last night and discussed everything from fans’ anger with him to why he traded Marian Hossa’s contract when he did to whether he plans to utilize his cap space to Nick Schmaltz’s contract to much more
https://theathletic.com/6...and-ignoring-his-critics/
If you don't have an Athletic subscription, but are keenly interested in what he has to say about something specific, I can paraphrase StanBo's response.
ETA: the way he talks about Colliton and what he is trying to do, it sounds like coaching by committee. UGH - pdx2ord
bowman spinning the poor play at times during games to adjustments implemented by the new coach is priceless...they have played like this for 2-3 seasons. Poor starts, a poor 5-10 minutes in the 2nd or 3rd.

I took it as more of the team falling back to playing the old way as opposed to any new adjustments..........time will tell is the main point I took from it. |

Count me as a guy who sees great value in Rozival types when they are slotted correctly. That broken down mess was part of a top 3-4 kill on a world class roster. I saw/see a Scuderi and even Timmonen type in the same light assuming they have any legs left.
IQ vets with 7-800 NHL games chipping in 10 minutes are tweaks that tie up loose ends on cup winners. Trick for a GM is do they fit their system and do they have any legs left. - Mr Ricochet
Fair point, but like Kruger, they only are affective on a team that plays with the lead a lot.
Those defenders are all but useless in todays game. They just can not keep up. They have to be able to win puck races. |

Just got to watch last night’s game. Looked like one of those “priceless” moments when Gustafson gave his game-winning stick to the little kid standing at the hawks’ tunnel from the bench. Looked like the kid was just trying to get a fist bump and Gus handed the kid the stick. Nice move, Gus! |

Not enough to win races. Have to win battles to keep the puck too. Without these two qualities a team has no forecheck, which in turn leads to what we see every night from this team.
Playing with the ice tilted against them.

Pretty sure that part's allowed...pretty sure the name calling part isn't.
On another note, kind of hoping the Vikings reduce the Packers chance of a playoff appearance further this evening. |

More insightful in a price is right, Drew Carey kinda way or when he used to repeat false rumors from bob's neighbor?
JJ made poop up or he repeated other made up poop....oh yeah, and he had a bad attitude towards most of his posters.

Red font? I've enjoyed Justin's insight and writing style since he took over. I find it positive while still being steeped in realism. He also doesn't chafe at differing points of view. |

JL is the reason why I came out of hiding. Nothing but respect for what he does and his opinions and rumor updates. He's balancing this with his job and growing family. Great guy to me. |

I didn't get to see the Panthers/Hawks game yesterday, but did check out the "condensed version".
1) Down early again...bad habit to be in. That second goal, again we saw 3 Hawks moving towards and watching the guy with the puck and it left someone wide open. The pattern lately of guys not knowing who to cover. I hope it just growing pains for the coaching change.
2) Really nice to see them push back, even if they had to get a bit lucky on the goal off the skate and the last second goal to tie it.
3) Did Hayden get moved to play with Toews/Saad? If so, I hope it works well. From what I saw, he seemed to be making some things happen finally.
4) Heck of a game for Kampf. That goal was nice.
5) Joki didn't get many minutes. Season low for him after being benched. I wonder if things are going sideways with him and JC. Did he have a bad game?

JL is doing a great job, it isn't easy being in his position to have everyone comb through and discuss your writing. Lots of respect here for JL and JJ. I was glad I finally did join here after wandering aimlessly for too many years. |

Well played, just checked and you are correct.
Guess I was thinking of the Hawks over the last few years under Bowman/Quenneville where they have been mostly a 23 man roster.
The Hawks have the cap space this year, so I wouldn't suspect they stick with 22 for an extended period of time.

Down early, but dug out of it, luck or not, this can be built upon. They are fragile, but a stepping stone. Hayden was moved to the top line in the 3rd and Kane played with Adb. Great changes, they did help. Kampf had a good game and great goal. I have liked him for awhile. I think Joki got victimized on the first goal. I didn't see a bad game from him. |

It looks like the ARIZ/CHI pipeline is flowing again. Hearing Nick Schmaltz going to the Coyotes, working on the rest.
Dylan Strome one piece coming back
ETA: Reuniting Strome and DBC??? Sending Schmaltz somewhere he can golf year round?
