Well glad the HAWKS Team did not " Check Out " and they played hard again tonight, and got some breaks and pulled it out . Not pretty and lot's to work on ,but two big points .
And I have not seen the team look that happy in a long long time . This road trip and those tough losses to good teams ,and this win maybe just maybe a turning point for this team .
The love for Gus by his teammates say's a lot ,fans have know idea what the dynamics of that room are like .. Good win fun to watch ,glad the Boy's are having some fun in the sun ..GO HAWKS !!!!!!!!!

It is his skaying where he could have better balance. That is what I have read.here on this site. Maybe someone who has paid close attention can offer input

If John Hayden could play strong on the puck on every shift like he did tonight, he'd be a nice fit on L1 with Toews and Saad.....who btw had 2 great backhand passes tonight for assists. Great game for Saad all night.

here we have 2 bad teams that both deserved to lose but kudos to the hawks for a rare comeback win from 2 goals down 2x.

the hawks deserved some good fortune and some bounces; played a dominant 3rd period as the panthers like most teams in the same situation decided to try to weather the storm and went passive to play the clock out...

for about 2-3 games maybe...its been their pattern for the last 100 plus games...

this team has neither the talent, nor the depth, nor the team structure to put a winning streak together in regulation...

they have 9 divisional games in the next month: 3x jets, 2x preds, 2x aves, wild and stars...6 of those on the road...we shall see about turning points by the end of december

Well, that was interesting.

This team has so many issues but nice to see a comeback like that.

I will have a breakdown of the last couple games and things I'm hearing.

I was glad to see JC break up Toews and Kane, that seemed to open things up for both of them - although I think Toews benefits from playing with Kane more than Kane benefits from playing with Toews. I like that JC is trying Kane with ADB and AA, I and many have been hoping for that. I doubt that Hayden is the long term solution on Toews' right wing. I'd like to see Schmaltz given a try there or put Kahun back there once Hayden fades (if, I mean, if he fades...LOL)

If Gus' goal means he gets more ice time at D, that's the wrong lesson to take away from this game.

I get the frustration with Goose. I really do.

But ultimately, there isn't ANYONE else on the team I would rather have shoot the puck from the blue line/perimeter than him. Unlike Keith, his shot doesn't find shin pads. Unlike Seabs, his shot doesn't find the glass behind the net. Unlike Joker, he doesn't look for another open pass/hesitate. He just fires the puck, and good things happen.

I understand his defensive miscues. I understand his frequent lapse of judgment defensively. But ultimately, he's only had 100 games at the NHL level. That's barely more than one full season. There's a reason why JC has been utilizing him more since taking over. It's because he too sees the potential. Even if Goose turns into a Justin Faulk-type player, that's still quite a useful asset.

We can't just assume that the young kids (Boq, Beaudin, Mitchell, Krys, etc.) are all just going to trickle in and contribute. You need regulars at the NHL level, and the team needs to develop the players they CURRENTLY have on the roster.

Speaking of, man has Forsling looked good as well.

Between Joker, Forsling, and Goose... the foundation of our "next generation" of defense-men is already in place, and it's nice to see.

Forsling has looked good.
With Gustafsson, I don't think the costs and benefits are balancing out yet. He was the last guy back on the second Panther goal (McCann.) He jumps into the offense so much it's like he doesn't understand he is a defenseman. He has talent, but he is frustrating.

Wow the mental gymnastics to blame Gus for that one 9.8, you got a 10 from East German judge
- TrueGrit

Are you kidding? Do you believe a “Man to Man” Defensive System means a D-Man can just get caught up-ice like a moron?

Edzo’s analysis was ridiculous. Also do you believe that a “Man to Man” System means the remaining D-Man, Yoki, on a break in, can just chase the puck carrier along the boards ALSO taking himself completely out of the play. So now there are NO D-MEN - NO D-MEN!!! - actually trying to defend the play? Please - that is ridiculous. Also Joki doesn’t actually win the puck does he? So bad decision. A “Man on Man” Defensive System does not allow D-Men to play like morons. You can’t expect forwards to cover moronic play.

Yes Gus turns the puck over, but that doesn't change the fact that Hayden and Fortin had their guys to cover. They went to help Joki who was on top of his guy on the wall.
- I Am The Breadman

One Gus should not have turned over the puck deep in the offensive zone. Two he should actually then bust his butt to get back into the play. Three Joki should NOT be against the boards taking himself out of the play so that now NO D-MEN are defending the break in. “Man on Man” does not mean stupidly chase the puck - and remember Joki actually didn’t have a chance to win the puck and in fact did NOT win the puck.

That the forwards didn’t miraculously save the crazy D-Men is far down the List.

Lighter note. Great sign of the brand and makes Mc Horse face feel good. On black Friday wife in Newfoundland went to a busy busy fabric store to get some material of. Blackhawk logo and design to make me PJ s and underwear to keep her wedding gift warm. Clerk said that team is sold out and always sells out the quickest. She said all other teams were there. So bye's ( da boys) get winning and get that new wave of blood there in next three years. This team still has a strong brand, but has to become elite in next three years, whatever it takes

I sat down with Stan Bowman last night and discussed everything from fans’ anger with him to why he traded Marian Hossa’s contract when he did to whether he plans to utilize his cap space to Nick Schmaltz’s contract to much more

https://theathletic.com/6...and-ignoring-his-critics/

If you don't have an Athletic subscription, but are keenly interested in what he has to say about something specific, I can paraphrase StanBo's response.

ETA: the way he talks about Colliton and what he is trying to do, it sounds like coaching by committee. UGH

MrR - We have had this dance before. I have openly posted that I likely never said that the Hawks should look to take Boqvist at 8. I have NEVER hidden this. So whatever expose you think you are uncovering doesn’t exist. I also never said that the Hawks should look to take Dahlin.

I never talked of Boqvist as I thought it impossible that he would fall to 8. Didn’t mean I wasn’t watching videos of him including family ones - him and his brother seem like great guys. There was a time not that long before the Draft were there was talk that Boqvist may be NUMBER 2! In the whole Draft! I was tracking him long before the Draft but for me he was not a possibility at 8.

I was sure some team would scoop him before 8. I’m sure the Hawks were happy he fell too. Who I did trumpet repeatedly was Merkley who I said the Hawks should do whatever needed to be done to take him. I also said that in spite of much negative Scouts’ talk he’d go in the First Round and likely before the Hawks’ second choice. I suggested the Hawks should have moved up to take him. Seemed Doug Wilson was ecstatic to draft him.

I also said that Tkachuk was over-rated but I hoped he’d be taken by someone higher than 8 and he was. Also Montreal and Phoenix made surprising choices and then Vancouver took Hughes at 7 and suddenly and impossibly Boqvist was there at 8.

I actually said I thought that Hughes might fall and be taken by the Hawks at 8.

Was I happy the Hawks got Boqvist? Could not be happier.

- Z3Hawk

I'm here for you, Z. That YOU personally never ever ever dreamed Bovquist would fall to 8th despite studying up on him, his brother and his family is just not logical or more importantly reasonable.

Took just one Google search on mocks or rankings BEFORE the 2018 draft to see Bob McKenzie, you know Bob right Z, has Boqvuist at 10 and the four scouts he works with had him anywhere from 5th to 14th but never in a million yrs did you see him available at 8???? https://www.tsn.ca/kc-1.1115400

Just a smell test thing for me, Z. Not here to bust your chops or troll you but you are on top the highest of mountain tops screaming your convictions and honestly this one, and your post, doesn't pass the smell test.

I'll be here as well in 10 yrs for you too when hopefully Bovquist hits 70 points, and is a -11, and you claim you wanted him all along.

And no man who's mortgage payment and kids' college fund depends on his accuracy is going to take a kid, Merkley, who was sent home by his jr team multiple times for disciplinary reasons anywhere near the middle or top of the 1st rd. Many wouldn't take that same kid in the 5th even though he has top 5 talent.

You and I can though cuz it matters as much what we do as what I just flushed down the toilet this morning but that ain't true for a guy who draws a check, makes a living, from an NHL club.

Coaching by committee does not work just like being a gm by does not work coaches and gm should lead and other can suggest and give their input but in the end its the coaches and gm decision right or wrong. This why Rocky needs to clean top to bottom to many hands in the cookie jar. To me that's why the hawks have gone south so quickly takes to long to make a decision and by the time they do its to late. Its like throwing crap at the wall and see if it sticks.
