I only used hideous and abomination cuz that's as far as my vocabulary will reach.
Z, few are in your league. I know that cuz you tell us often. You just have to suffer with the serfs but this you've known since you were developing your special hockey mind as a youth.......... The one that wanted Bovquist all along but never posted once until after the fact. Or that Brady Tkachuk is a bum cuz he only scored 8 in 40 at BU but now in 12 NHL games as a 19 yr old has 7 goals, 11 points, 15 PIM, 30 hits, 4 PP points, 32 shots and a fight. How'd that kind of game look in the Indianhead?
Not saying you're wrong, 10 yrs will tell, as I rarely make closed ended comments as you do and am old enough to know what I don't know. Hopefully time will allow you that same luxury, Z. - Mr Ricochet
MrR - We have had this dance before. I have openly posted that I likely never said that the Hawks should look to take Boqvist at 8. I have NEVER hidden this. So whatever expose you think you are uncovering doesn’t exist. I also never said that the Hawks should look to take Dahlin.
I never talked of Boqvist as I thought it impossible that he would fall to 8. Didn’t mean I wasn’t watching videos of him including family ones - him and his brother seem like great guys. There was a time not that long before the Draft were there was talk that Boqvist may be NUMBER 2! In the whole Draft! I was tracking him long before the Draft but for me he was not a possibility at 8.
I was sure some team would scoop him before 8. I’m sure the Hawks were happy he fell too. Who I did trumpet repeatedly was Merkley who I said the Hawks should do whatever needed to be done to take him. I also said that in spite of much negative Scouts’ talk he’d go in the First Round and likely before the Hawks’ second choice. I suggested the Hawks should have moved up to take him. Seemed Doug Wilson was ecstatic to draft him.
I also said that Tkachuk was over-rated but I hoped he’d be taken by someone higher than 8 and he was. Also Montreal and Phoenix made surprising choices and then Vancouver took Hughes at 7 and suddenly and impossibly Boqvist was there at 8.
I actually said I thought that Hughes might fall and be taken by the Hawks at 8.
Was I happy the Hawks got Boqvist? Could not be happier.

8, 88, and 64 just had a crossbar chance.
Same for 12 and 8. |

Everyone who folows closely after reading this blog today reaffirms that Boqvist is a work in progress. There appears keen interest to allow the kid to both be taught in each league and learn from playing in NHL exhibition what it takes at a minimum to gain an nhl roster spot. However fonot assume his us skill set is so great to overlook dramattic defensive shortcoming next fall. There is no need to rush him and if Gus is still here I annot fathom both in the lineup. This is what I believe we all believe. Despite what was said both Mr R and Z3 feel the kid is the real deal. It will just take time. There are many whom will break in to the blueline group but how soon with so many youngsters at the position .....it will be interesting to see unfold maybe long term not under Bowman's eyes. - jhawk59
He does not have unexpected and dramatic defensive shortcoming just because you say so. He is doing just fine defensively and has 5 in 3 offensively. He is even still acclimating to NA ice. Can’t wait to see him in a Hawks’ jersey all of next year.

Blackhawks lineup vs. Panthers
Saad-Toews-Kane
Schmaltz-Kampf-Kahun
DeBrincat-Anisimov-Hayden
Fortin-Kruger-Martinsen
Keith-Forsling
Gustafsson-Jokiharju
Manning-Seabrook
Ward
Crawford
Jokiharju played well with Keith and Keith played well with Jokiharju, but them back together! Is it just because Forsling is playing his off side that he's with Keith? I'd rather have him with Seabrook and flip Manning to play with Gus.
It's time to break up Toews and Kane, IMHO.

Foley did exclaim that it was a defenseman that went around Keith - but more that the dman is quick than #2 slow |

I was wondering why EdZo was so high on Manning all year. Maybe he is on the “we love him” list. He is Stan’s pet reclamation project this year, after all. But, what has he added to the team? |

Kane has 6 games without points, trade that slouch before the decline spins out of control. |

There’s a Gustafson O-zone blueline turnover that leads to a goal. This team is absolutely TERRIBLE!! |
