Boqvist with another 2 goal game. Now 5 in 3. Hitting his stride on North American ice.

It is great to hear he is scoring and acclimating to NA ice. How is the defensive side of his game?

. Changes long term plan with Bo, and a few others coming in two or three years, hopefully we can build some offence scoring and grit, if that means trading assets as trade deadline hits. Only then will we get full market value for a Crow, Keith or even Kane. And with our defence if it means throwing in someone with Seabrook. That contract is too long to retain half the liability. When Seabs signed that contract, my buddies knew it was. TOO. Rich

Who cares? If the puck is 200ft away from his goal then probably good enough.

Reports are he is using speed and positioning to do what he needs to do in defensive end.

Thanks, we don't want another Gus. Glad he plays all of the ice well. As long as he stays healthy, I'm really excited for him.

I do, he was the 8th overall pick. "Probably good enough" is too flip for me.

Watched only Period 1 last night. Pretty common last few years for the boys to come out flat. That MUST change for them to ever get into any legitimate contention discussion.
The hard salary cap is MUCH more to blame than any other single factor regarding the current state of the 'Hawks.
That being said, knowing you have a hard cap, teams gotta move a guy a year too early as opposed to what has happened here, a year or more too late.
No matter how it goes down, these next years promise to be better than the first 40-odd years of following the Blackhawks!!

Who cares? Really? I do for one, then there’s Breadman, everyone associated with the London Knights and the Chicago Blackhawks and every one of the fans of either of these teams except you. Are you having meat sweats?

First step is to fire Stan Bowman and let someone try to sort out this dumpster fire without bias.
- EnzoD

Don't know if it was discussed already, but if Stan is gone (sooner the better), who replaces him? Anyone has a name in mind? “without bias” is crucial, I am worried the Hawks will turn to someone within their circle and we will see only a sidestep instead of a move forward.

Playing the Hawks = antidote for slumping teams and slumping goalies

Therefore look for the lowly Panthers to look like Cup contenders while defeating our Hawks tonight.

. Right again on Bo, that's how elite defense do it. You have it or you don't, and it enhances both areas of their game

It is sad to see us evolve into the "joke" team that others are excited to play against for a 2 point standing boost.

I don't get that vibe from this leadership group at all. Where's that rudderless ship GIF when you need it, lol. This team has been in free fall mode for the last couple of years and the solutions management has provided consist of trading away decent NHL depth for futures, then signing 7th defensemen and 13th forwards. How many on this current Blackhawks roster would have dressed for the Lightning last night? My guess is maybe 5 or 6? Nobody from our bottom 6 or second and third pairings, that's for sure.

There were some pretty special and talented Blackhawks teams from the 70's to the early 90's that came up just short. The will and skill of this current group don't compare. Unfortunately, the Cup window for this group is closed.

BB has a pic on page 9. He tends to be 1 step ahead of the rest of the class.

Chicken and egg question for the class: Did this team lose its competitive mojo when Hossa retired or did Hossa retire when the team lost its competitive mojo? I'm thinking the quietly professional, relentless Hoss was the straw that stirred the drink...

I'll take Hossa was the straw that stirred the drink for $2000, Alex.

The 'Hawks, realistically, can get back into contention quicker if:
A.) Their top prospects arrive earlier than expected, and;
B.) A dark horse or two in the minors develops ala Shawzie.

That might be Evan Barratt that plays that similar game/role.

You are right though... the Hawks need a few of those unexpected prospects to come in and play a big part - the sooner the better.

Hossa, Shaw, Hammer, Oduya and even Ray Emery for 1 year are 4 guys who contributed skill, nasty, drive and determination. They aren't replaced easily and certainly not with Schmaltz and Gustafsson.

Under man to man you don’t just throw out what side of the ice the D-Men play on. Man to man may allow more agressive stepping up and puck challenges deep. However, this isn’t done in a vaccum. You don’t want a D-Man caught up-ice nor do you want both D-Men caught on the same side leaving the front of the net or the far post open.
- Z3Hawk

Keith frustrated, no surprise, but I also sense some skepticism about the new system and his new pairing. He doesn't answer the question directly on the system, and he makes the "two lefties" comment on the pairing. Has to be a really hard transition from Q and the game he's playing for 10+ years for him.

No time to breathe for the Hawks as they take on Florida tonight.

Can Ward is expected to be in net and I wouldn't be surprised if Jokiharju, Hayden and Martinsen enter back in as well.

If it were me I would split Kane and Toews up and create more balance. Kabe also looked very disinterested last game, he needs to stay focused.

I like Keith and Seabrook separated as well. I would go back to Keith-Joki and then Forsling-Seabrook. Gustafsson's minutes and role needs to decrease IMO.

The Hawks organization as a whole is taking a beating right now as Rockford got thunped 7-2 last night. They try to do better hockey tonight vs. The Admirals.

Is Derek King the right man for the job down there? I've heard that the Hawks might be looking to bring someone else in. They are in evaluation phase there.

Not really. Id rather see a guy on the blue line that can put up 60 points then some shut down specialist. At least that'll be fun to watch.

On your last sentence, that should definitely be being looked at if they feel he’s not the right guy.

I wasn’t close to the RFD situation at all, but a lot of people here and other places never seemed to happy with Dent. It begs the question, was he allowed to stay too long?
