Need the assets to trade. After Bouchard not much is left that appeals unless sold at low market value. Goal is a big problem & the D is behind our group/prospects.

It's rare to hit someone when they still have the puck. The puck carrier usually anticipates contact and moves it to a teammate prior to impact. So the guy making the hit has likely lost defensive positioning and is no longer available to provide backside pressure. When your D-men aren't that good you'd much rather defend 5 vs 5 than 4 on 4.

I will agree with this.

What I’m talking about is fast and decisive pressure on the opposition. Motte is skating hard down the right side coming around the back of the net, Duck player is collecting the puck that was placed into the left side corner, turns and starts skating behind the net, they are both arriving at the same space at the same time. I think there should be body contact, put the defender on his ass, no penalty, no cheap shot, and continue around the net to back check....simple old school hockey that other teams use on the Canucks.

But for some unexplained reason the Canucks shy away from any contact, except Gudbranson and Del Zotto.

How do we know this? Once you take Matthews off his line he could easily regress. He has back to back 61 point seasons, I don't see any improvement..

Matthews drives the play & not really a top playmaker like some might think. Willy is the playmaker who can skate shoot & dish.

Problem is Willy is c0cky confident & a serious threat where as Goldy has a few strides to make & stick to it. Willy is the Type of player who shines & gets the big bucks or a Goldy type bounces around til chances are all gone.

Kyle turris was traded for a lot less , so deals aren't always cut and dry
