I was kind of hoping we would get to see Pilut, but will take the win happily!! We can't win every game, but for the next 2 I would be dam happy if we could beat Montreal ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž

Every team shells up like that, i think buffalo just isn't very good at it. Wishing they'd continue the attack is one thing, but they really need to improve at parking the bus. Every time they've done it this year they give up high quality scoring chances.

Im grateful park the bus became a thing here. Parking the bus in it's original form is a counter attack strategy. What they're doing mimics that in the sense that they're absorbing pressure but with no actual counter its basically a collapse.

Imo, what they're doing makes more sense if it's done a little higher up. Instead of holding the line at the crease, hold it at the blue line. Make them dump the puck in instead of giving them free clean entries.

Yeah, this is driving me a little nuts. They are also giving too much room in the middle for that pass from the right or left wing to the center with a clear shot

I'm thankful that there are no zeros in the goal or assist columns for any Sabres player, except Remi Elie, who must feel like the bowl of lukewarm canned cream corn on the Thanksgiving table. Buck up, buddy

where do you guys see him ending up?? Him and Dahlin could be a very dynamic "need goals" pairing.

POTD.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I bet most ex-grunts will like this, and the title is Sabres themed, to boot:

So with how well Larsson is playing, did we win both Pominville trades yet?

Heโ€™s really found a role. Him and Girgโ€™s are a huge part of this teams success. Never thought Iโ€™d type those words.

Happy Thanksgiving, Mr Pachla

Excellent work as usual

One thought on these come-from-behind wins, or playing with a lead, or the idea that they aren't playing "a full 60 minutes." Just remember, there's another team on the ice that's trying to play "a full 60 minutes" too. With the amount of parity, there are very few games you're going to dominate start to finish.

Gotta make hay while you can within a game, and in the context of a winning streak

- jcragcrumple

This is exactly right. With the salary cap, players coming in to camp in excellent shape, and the ability to scout like never before (analytics/advanced stats) there is parity in the league like never before. It's going to be rare that any team dominates for 60 mins, especially this time of year, when almost every team still has hopes of making the playoffs. Maybe starting in February or after the trade deadline teams will start letting up. But for now, it's going to be a battle most nights. And it's not like the Sabres are getting "lucky" but they do have good puck luck lately; which will inevitably run out, which is why you bank as many wins as possible when it's going well.

It's been an amazing start to the season. Wow has it been fun!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! And... LET'S GO BUFFALO! LET'S GO BUFFALO! LET'S GO BUFFALO!!!!

If the Sabres win Friday, and go legit 500 rest of the season, were at the very least a 90 point team, not including any OT or shootout losses.

.500 rest of the way = playoffs

Last 3 years the final playoff team had:

17-18: 97 points
16-17: 95 points
15-16: 93 points

The 90-92 cut off is more or less dead.

Edit: mis read 15-16

They are 90 points if they win half the remaining games.

I didnโ€™t include any OT losses or shootout.

So itโ€™s more 95-97 points

I wouldn't say well. Solid. He's been solid, but given that we got Pommer back cheap, I agree we won it.

That goal isn't scored against an NHL caliber goalie.

"...stretch the Sabres will have played nine games in 17 days and will be finishing it off with three games in four nights."

What a brutal stretch of hockey. And the fact that they are winning makes it that much more impressive. This team is a full year ahead of where I thought they would be. It is fun to watch Sabre games again and to be a fan. God knows that all of us posters on this forum deserve something positive after many year's of suffering.

On this U.S. Thanksgiving Day, if there is one thing that I am thankful for as it relates to the Sabres, it is Jason Botterill. He is the straw that is stirring the Sabres drink.

oh that's what you meant by legit, i read that wrong.

Edit: Their underlying numbers indicate an average team, with everyone in the metro poopting themselves it should be enough
