Scmaltz is asking for $6 million, biggest fear is Stan will do it without blinking. - walleyeb1
Is it on record that Schmaltz wants 6M? I think he would be crazy to be asking for that right now. |

I hope he's not asking for that, because I would also be afraid Bowman gives it to him....and a full NMC |

Wilson 1-0 then falls on Crow.
It's clobbering in time.
We had good sustained pressure, then it falls to crap. |

And how many years do they have to rank to get enough top-5 picks PLUS development time to make a run?
As opposed to drafting well mid-first round (which they can do), developing better than they have, sign better than the have, and making better trades than they have?
Tanking is dumb, rarely works (so many perennial bottom feeders in the league who get high picks and don’t do anything with them), and wastes too many years of the quality players you DO have.
Losing does pervade through an organization - and then can’t be turned into a winning environment when you think they’re ready. - StLBravesFan
I’d much rather take my chances drafting top 5 instead of mid first round. Might as well. What’s the point in being below average as opposed to god awful? What do we gain? |

People need to stop overvaluing the pipeline prospects from Bowman on down to the fans.
There is NOT much NHL level talent in the Hawk system now. For example, Dylan Sikura doesn’t put them over the playoff edge this year. This situation is a combination of the price of success with low draft picks, a conscious shift to speed and skill at the expense of physical presence.
Top ten first rounders have a 68% chance of having a pension eligible NHL career - from there it’s all a crapshoot. So, getting someone in that top ten is the quickest path to adding young ELC NHL talent.
Ted Dent likely did no favors on the talent development side, and now JC is up with the big club.
I am inclined to agree the tank is the only path to rebuild a contending team. As such, I think we all would save ourselves a lot of grief by not holding on to the delusional belief that somehow there is enough transformational talent in the organization to make a hill of beans difference in at least the next few years.
As it stands today the NHL club has four legit forwards, two tweener forwards (NS/Saad), and a bunch of nothing after that.
They have three legit D guys in 2, 7 and Joki, but fuse almost burnt out on the first two, followed by a whole lot of 5-8 guys upslotted out of necessity.
And this group is trying to play a style of hockey they don’t have the horses for.
No cap room, no legit prospects close to moving up, and I think we will find it wasn’t Q either.
Am I wrong? I could be but I don’t think so. - Return of the Roar
You’re 100% correct. Gotta tank and draft top 5, we’ve got absolutely nothing to lose by doing so. |

New boss, same as the old boss.
Keith and Seabrook still on 1st unit power play providing absolute nothing and cannot help a zone entry or carry in to save their life |

Would you have traded the 8th (Bovquist) last draft for the 11th-12th (Wahlstrom and Dobson)?
