Hmm I could see it going either way for mcbackup. He gets lit up or plays amazing. My money is he sucks.
- bryant

It's going to be tough to cheer against the guy, but I realize I must put my personal feelings aside and cheer for the Leafs to light him up.

It's a sacrifice I must be willing to make.

He's coming off a solid performance vs. NJD so he'll probably stink up the joint.

You should yell really awful and personal things at him. If you don't I think it's fair to say you aren't a true Leafs fan.

This is one of the things I like about you - you're always willing to make the tough choices.

You know, on the whole "Leafs suck defensively and are only being saved by Andersen and should trade Nylander for D" front... I just pulled some numbers from Natural Stat trick... Leafs have the 4th best HDSA/60. Their HDCA/60 is worse, at 12th, but that just means a lot of "chances" teams are getting against the Leafs aren't even winding up on net... probably because of what the eye-test tells us... the team is getting in the shooting lanes, and not giving other teams clear shots and Andersen.

Leafs currently only allow 7.54 high-danger shots per game.

Our HDSV% is ranked 16th in the league.

So is it Andersen making the Leafs good, or visa versa?

- Feeling Glucky?

The way the Leafs defend, it really helps Andersen. They give up a lot of shots by design, but very rarely are they screened shots. The Leafs allow the opposition's defense to shot from the point all game long. They don't worry about that. They also allow a team to cycle, because really, cycling the puck is the least dangerous event the opposition can be doing.

There's just no leverage from the Nylander camp. We're seeing the extent of it now. Their leverage is holding out until the final minutes before December 1st. The Nylander camp isn't going to let him miss a season and ruin his future value and everything else is controlled by the CBA. Restricted free agency is set so the team is in charge. He has no arbitration rights. There's nothing for them to stand on.
They'll sign a last minute deal (maybe a bridge) and soldier on. There's nothing else they can do unless they feel like packing up shop and heading the KHL for a few years to ride the bus and hope your plane doesn't crash.
Even then, he won't be able to sign the kind of long term deal for the money he wants without proving to people he still has what he needs to compete at the NHL level.

Nothing to see here.

So basically he would have to wait until he was 27 and reach UFA status to come back...

Yeah, I don't know what papa Nylander is thinking.

Leafs would still own his rights.

On an unrelated topic, does anyone give two poops about this Tiger vs. Phil thingy that is going down on Friday?

Apparently it's $19.99

If it was free and I was in front of a TV, I suppose I would watch it, but I can't say I would go out of my way to see it - and I sure as hell wouldn't pay a dime for the privilege.

Not true.

If he has no contract, when he hits 27 years old (as of June 30th), he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

My gut is feeling 60% long term / 35% bridge / 5% trade.

Favouring long term because I think if they were going for a bridge, it would've happened by now. I really don't see a trade happening because I can't see anyone offering fair value considering the situation and I don't see Dubas taking a poop return on his first real foray into the trade market.

Oh and I say 0% sits (/plays in Europe) because I imagine the Nylander camp caves before it get's to that.

I don't understand it at all.

Phil's good and all, but come on.

I’ll be watching forsure. Took part of the day off work because it starts at 3. I’m also a huge tiger fan. I work for myself so I just didn’t schedule work after lunch.

Is it during the day? If so I'll dig out a stream and throw it on my third monitor for the afternoon while I "work".

Shot attempts for/against we are 18th

Actual shots on net for/against we are 24th.

Quality Team D, can make most NHL tenders look very good. Depends on where the shots are coming from, and how much traffic is in the way during the shots. JMO

imo..The Leafs want Nylander in the lineup, they are pushing for a cup this season. So that is some leverage for sure.

Boy, that would sure show the Leafs who was Boss...

Also not sure if this is true. Does he not have to play out his RFA years?
