Saad + Schmaltz for Nylander and Bracco and Leafs do it - plantheparade
Nah.
Saad = 6 mil
Schmaltz = pending RFA who will likely ask for more than 1.5 million since he's playing in the top 6.
That trade does basically nothing for the Leafs, capwise. And yes, Nylander is better than Schmaltz and Saad combined. |

I don't know if I ever called Kap a bust. but I am certainly on record as saying we got ripped off in the Kessel deal.
There's a high probability I'm wrong on this.
I have to admit I was never a true Andersen believer (despite the fact my daughter worships him).
Now, I'm not so sure. He just may be an elite goaltender.
I don't think you can ever say we won the Kessel trade, but this may be a good example of the trade benefiting both teams (see: Ignla, J for Niewendyk, J.). - Atomic Wedgie
I didnt like the kessel trade, main reason was the money we retained. Had we not retained anything, i would have been content. I thought kap would be a 3rd liner, but he has been a pleasant surprise. |

Poor TSN is running out of ideas....I’m sure by now they are pulling a teams name out of a hat at this point then just picking some random player.....tomorrow it will probably be “Nylander for Shaw? How does Nylander fit in with the Canadians?” - RatedR80
TSN has already traded Nylander to every team, at least twice. |

Because CBAs are negotiated by existing players, who are not afraid to throw younger players under the bus, because they don't give to franks about them.
Why the frank does Matthews make the same $ as Connor Brown for the 1st 3 years? Because he wasn't in the league yet when the current CBA was signed, and the players who negotiated it were happy to sacrifice guys who weren't at the table, so that the guys at the table could get more Benjamins. - Atomic Wedgie
Yeah, I get that, though. I, personally, have no problem with the ELC model. Frankly, if you're a marginal prospect you're getting around $650k for your time in the bigs. That's not too shabby. I am also not underestimating nor undervaluing the amount of work and effort they put in on a daily basis to be a marginal prospect. But now they have a foot in the door, and can prove it. If you're an elite prospect you still have to show it. Otherwise Daigle would still be being paid by Ottawa.
I just find it weird that Nylander can spend 3 years in the league, and because he's not 23, he can't file for arbitration. The younger you are when you break in, the less rights you have. |

TSN: Here's why I think a Nylander for Saad trade is a good idea....
...
...
...
Nope, I got nothing. It's a terrible idea. - PatC80
doesnt make sense for a lot of reasons. Thankfully the Leafs are no longer the Nonis Leafs and I would be terrified of a trade like that happening..because he won a cup or something |

Nylander is free to sign an offer-sheet with any team. The kid is holding out on the entire league, not just the Leafs.. Starting to think, he only wants to play in the KHL. |

Meh, the quality younger players can negotiate bonuses. |

that's exactly what Button said;
Saad would be a great leader, because he won two Cups.. Also, that he has 6 goals this year, and if he played with Matthews, he'd easily have 7. |

9 more days of this right? Hopefully sooner tho I’m sure it’s been a blast to discuss every Nylander trade scenario under the sun every day of the week |

Chicago has nothing we need at the moment. Leafs don't need picks and prospects, if any deal did happen, it would need to include Jokiharju.
