It's more like; Nylander saying "I've been working at Pepsi for 3 years now, I want to be paid like someone that's been working here for 15 years." - PatC80
That would make him management. |

it ended up being Dermott, Bracco and Dzierkals
I remember having an exchange with you about Kap (you called him basically a bust).
I am pretty confident in a couple year we will look at Dermott/Konecny as a win and its not that close - senstroll
I don't know if I ever called Kap a bust. but I am certainly on record as saying we got ripped off in the Kessel deal.
There's a high probability I'm wrong on this.
I have to admit I was never a true Andersen believer (despite the fact my daughter worships him).
Now, I'm not so sure. He just may be an elite goaltender.
I don't think you can ever say we won the Kessel trade, but this may be a good example of the trade benefiting both teams (see: Ignla, J for Niewendyk, J.). |

I don't know if it is all that broken. The RFA system is designed to protect the team not the player. A player doesn't really have seniority yet in the league. They haven't yet earned the same protections as other members. So the CBA likely concedes to protect it's more senior members. The teams still need a chance to build their youth without giving away too much power.
I don't know why a player coming out of their ELC doesn't get arbitration rights. That part doesn't make sense. Not to mention a lack of mediation application for these types of scenarios.
I'd wholly agree that there has to be a way to resolve these types of situations more efficiently, but I would still strongly side with the team until a player reaches a certain age. - Monkeypunk
Because CBAs are negotiated by existing players, who are not afraid to throw younger players under the bus, because they don't give to franks about them.
Why the frank does Matthews make the same $ as Connor Brown for the 1st 3 years? Because he wasn't in the league yet when the current CBA was signed, and the players who negotiated it were happy to sacrifice guys who weren't at the table, so that the guys at the table could get more Benjamins. |

Poor TSN is running out of ideas....I’m sure by now they are pulling a teams name out of a hat at this point then just picking some random player.....tomorrow it will probably be “Nylander for Shaw? How does Nylander fit in with the Canadians?”

I am pretty sure you didnt use the word bust. It was more along the lines of he was a nothing prospect and not worth anything in a trade (that everyone was using at the time in trade proposals)
It would have been around the 16-17 season, I remember looking up his stats and commenting that a point a game in the AHL for a 20yo is pretty good and he projected as an NHL'er
