I'll take that as a no.
I know this may be hard for you to understand, but both of these things can be true
The players are responsible to play the way they know how to play.
The coaches are responsible to put players in the best situations to succeed, and hold them accountable if the players are not holding up their end of the bargain.
At this point, everyone is aware of your bizarre sexual gratification of arguing with people non stop, as you've been doing it for 11 (frank)ing years on this board. You are just insulting people tonight and I'm just thinking you might need a life coach to help you get past this. - feelingkettle
More nonsense. I don't know what you think a coach does before a game. They don't come into the locker room to give a pre game speech to prepare and motivate the players to be ready to play every game and if he doesn't, well then the team will just go out in the first period and not play. I know it's absurd of me to expect professional hockey players to be self motivated and for the leadership of the team to set the example on how to play. I know it's absurd of me to expect the top players of this team to be ready to play and to be ready to back check to the net instead of gliding and watching the opposition put the puck into their own net.
No NHL coach is going to bench a top player like Giroux, Voracek or Couturier to hold them accountable. Yet those players are part of the problem.
You can make this about me all you want but that will have zero effect on me. I don't have any issue with anyone who says that if it doesn't change then the coach will have to go. That's part of coaching. Just don't give me this nonsense that the first period is the result of the coach not having them ready to play. That's laughable. The coach may pay the price but it's on the players.

Where is Nolan Patrick? - Just5
You need the # 2 pick in the draft to be a franchise player. Patrick will be nothing of the sort.
The black cloud that hovers over this franchise is comical. |

1/4 through the season. Battling for last place in the east. Not seeing that step forward Ron was talking about. Its time for changes. |

Okay I have to point it out. The propaganda by the broadcast crew this year to sell us on an “emotional” Hakstol is a little chuckle worthy.
Hell of a last two periods. I don’t remember this much intensity for a while. - flyer_nutter
Yea, that's it. The broadcast crew is focused on making the coach look better and to make him seem emotional. Honestly, I don't know where you get this stuff from.

Voracek is a turnover machine near the red line - PT21
I don't know which is worse, the Voracek turnovers, Weal constantly being knocked off the puck, or Coots' no look behind the back passes to no one.

Im very anti-Flyers right now but I will never understand this.
The Flyers drafted the best player they could in that spot..What should they have done, declined the pick? |

Patrick is a good player now who is going to be a really good player in a few years. The problem with this team right now is not the young players.

6 teams in the entire league under .500....and the Flyers are one of them. 1 point out of last place in the east...and Florida has 3 games in hand. Solid job. |

I didn’t say the didn’t draft the best available player. I’m saying it’s bad luck a franchise guy wasn’t there |

how many games over the past few years have the FLyers come out flat? Yes part of this is on the players, but you can't fire all of them. Time for Hak to go.
Also Hextall over the summer stayed with the same broken goalies. I mean come on.
For Thanksgiving I'm most thankful that the Flyers aren't playing, so I don't waste another few hours of my life. |

You mean that young rangers squad on fire with a new coach that had one of the worst farm systems in the league in recent years? |

Agreed..The biggest problem on the team right now is the GM and the roster he has assembled.

Now you're being disingenuous because you know I'm right. Nothing I'm saying is in bad faith. The issue was not that the coach didn't have them ready to play. The issue is the players, the veteran team leadership was not ready to play at the start of the game. If I was the GM, I'd be in the room ripping into players and docking paychecks if I could.

I don't buy all of that. When this team plays, they're a solid team. The roster is a work in progress.
