Can y'all let us win tomorrow?
I haven't been to a home game in years and I am going.
Appreciate it.

Me: hears Lyons
My brain: Don't say it
Don't say it
Don't say it
Don't say it
Don't say it
Don't say it
Don't say it
Don't say it
Don't say it
Don't say it
Don't say it
Me: It's LYON!!! - Scoob
I know this and don’t recall ever adding the “s”, but if it helps you...try to think of it more as a nickname rather than a misspelling. Could be like a funny goalie multiple personality reference.

Depends on how many PPs you guys get. If it's more than 1, odds are in your favor. |

So wait...Are you saying you don't expect the PKers to start executing well, solely based on the past 3 seasons that month+ of this season to date?
I find that hard to believe.
That's like saying that you don't expect Neuvirth to get injured based on past experience. - jmatchett383

Also needed a goalie for the expansion draft otherwise Stolarz was exposed - dragonoffrost
Good point |
|
|

Also wasn't Pickard acquired due to Lyon being hurt when Neuvy went down. Which meant we had 3 goalies for 4 nets (including Lehigh) - dragonoffrost
Yes, this is why, but he is still here. And Neuvy was hurt again. And now Elliott taking some time too.

Everyone just calm down.
All they have to do is start executing Lappy's PK and most issues will be resolved. Just need to execute better.
I mean, sure, they haven't been able to execute at all for 3+ years, but I have no reason to doubt they won't start executing it well within a week or so. - jmatchett383
You’ve got to be real careful about making snap judgments over a small sample size of games.
Besides, the experts agree, the issue is between the player’s ears. Once Doc McStuffins does his magic the players will execute. |

Sanheim playing every game so far is a bright spot.
However the team is doomed to failure this season because of the league-worst PK which has already dug a hole too big to climb out of. Hextall should be ashamed that he made no changes over the summer to improve his team's weakest area. |

All kidding aside, this is EXACTLY what they need to do. Penalty Killing isn't rocket science. Its not like there is some magic strategy out there that has never been tried before.
But three plus years of this? You have to start with the coach.
The scary thing is that there is no guarantee changing the coach will improve the situation. But at least its a start, and the players will still have to execute whatever changes are made.
Since you cant get the personnel to execute the plan, either you change the personnel or you change the plan. You cant tell me that in three plus years you cant devise a plan that plays to your players strengths.
It seems no matter who his out there, they get gashed by backdoor chances and cross ice passes. And seem to have no solution for it.
It HAS to start with the coach. But it ends with the players doing their jobs. - MBFlyerfan
Could it possibly get any worse with whoever they bring in? At this point is there any possible further harm that could happen? It’s a real conundrum why they haven’t moved on from lappy other than the fact that they like the guy |

You do wonder what's going to happen moving forward. You had two pretty solid organizations in Chicago and St.Louis making coaching changes because they weren't getting the results expected. Hextall stated he had an expectation for this year. How long does he wait to make a change if they are cruising around .500 |

I get that...kind of makes you think about Hextall's decision making ability. His firing was based on a "gut feeling"? - Dkos
That's what he said to the media it was based on. |

As long as the playoffs are attainable he can hold off and then make a move at the deadline for players to augment. We're stuck with the status quo.

I’m not Bill, but it was reported in the off-season we made an offer to Riley Nash. It’s tough because free agency Signings take two to tango. Our D also sucks still, but Hexy also tried for De Haan. - arichardson22
I'm no Bill, either, but I think you can do fine using Weal, Vorobyev and Laughton as the 3C this season. Then next year Rubtsov and Frost will be options.
Nash and De Haan wouldn't fix Lappy's laughable PK. You'd need prime Hasek standing on his head to even get it in the top 20. |

The Blues placing Berube in the head coaching position proves the Flyers prowess in finding and cultivating coaching talent. There is no way in hell two professional bonafide organizations run by hockey people would appoint Craig Berube the head coach unless he was a rock solid coach.
I think he will do good things as the coach there. Looks like he is already garnering a great deal of respect amongst his players. And who wouldn’t? To suggest otherwise may earn them a spanking.
The players there just need to execute better. The issue is between their ears. |

Too big to climb out of? No one in the Metro is running away with things. Flyers Buzz is just doom and gloom, we are in manageable position. |

I agree with this 100%. It really comes down to a coach designing a good PK, explaining it to the players, and then having the players execute it.
But when you're going on 4 years of abysmal execution, using a rotating cast of PK players, maybe you start looking past the players. - jmatchett383
The coaches have done that. The Players are playing in a PK system that they've likely seen before in juniors all the way through their pro career. Firing the coach responsible for it is a reasonable course of action based on the results. Not going to automatically fix the problem.
