That's why he should be in a 3rd line role? Those number are really good for a rookie. Those numbers are why he should remain right where he is. - MJL
Players are like the stock market. I noticed the more they get mentioned during game broadcasts the more they get mentioned by fans, good or bad. Like that stretch when Sanheim was constantly mentioned during games, just happened to be around the time GMs were showing up to games and rumors flying. I haven't heard much of Sanheim in a bit now, but has he been playing any better or worse? The power of the media.
As for Lindblom I have personally been pretty happy with his performance so far and look at him as a solid top 6 forward now and in the future. If it wasn't for Konency's last game against Tampa the same could be said about him. What about Patrick, he has been pretty invisible on the offensive side of the puck lately, but he does other things for the team. |

I think in some ways not hearing Sanheim's name is a good thing. Has he made many mistakes lately? Not that I've seen. Player development normally happens in steps. Sanheim's play away from the puck is getting better and better. He's already strong in moving the puck up through the neutral zone in breakouts. Next step for him is an escalation in the offensive game.
As far as Lindblom is concerned. It remains to be seen if he keeps up the same production pace but those numbers for a player that came from his situation, is huge. That's a clear sign that this kid is going to be a real good player for this team. Someone doesn't see that? I question that ability to see what is really there.

I'm glad you said that, that was exactly what I was going to say about Lindblom. Obviously a team wants every player noticed in a positive way, but if you are dealing with a young player it is better to be unnoticed then noticed for the negative. |

No they rarely occur because it's stupid to do so and it doesn't make sense. Players have a limited career and a limited earning period. It's pretty clear that one side or maybe both are being unreasonable. I have my guess as to who it is. It doesn't matter how it turns out from here. He's being foolish.. - MJL
Eric Lindros sat out two separate full seasons, IIRC. I think if you were to ask him now, he had no regrets over either holdout. He knew where he didn't want to be, and he had enough leverage to get his way.
Subban, Doughty, Ryan Johansen, Jamie Benn, Ryan O'Reilly, Jonathan Drouin etc all held out recently. They're all doing fine. I'm sure none of them are regretting what they did, considering current playing/salary circumstances.
I think Nylander fits in pretty well talent/potential-wise with those names above. |

I bet you're wrong about that and that Eric Lindros does regret a number of things about his career.
Some of those players didn't hold out for long. Nylander is in danger of missing an entire NHL season. Not the same. You got it wrong. He's acting stupidly. |

Looking at the goal differential for the Flyers, they really aren't excelling at anything.
Even Strength: +2
Man Advantage: +4
Short Handed: -15
Clearly their special teams needs to get better, but so does their even strength. Just giving up way too many goals all around. Just as a quick comparison, here is Nashville.
Even Strength: +17
Man Advantage: +8
Short Handed: -3 |

There are a lot of factored involved as well. We have seen this in most sports when players hold out, but how long does it normally take for players to get back to that level they are expected to? Lindros also played hockey while holding out, is Nylander currently playing? I am sure he is skating, but is he at least seeing game action? |

He's on record saying he's happy with how things turned out. Maybe he's lying?

None of those guys wanted to eat bridge deals, and I'm sure their bank accounts are better off for it today. Not all guys have the leverage to force that situation. The ones who do, tend to use it. |

Best story is when Ken Dryden held out, he used that time to finish law school and clerk for a law firm, while playing beer league hockey to stay in shape.

Habs finally caved, he came back and won 4 Cups for them immediately after.

Most of them wind up signing for less than what they're asking for. Holdouts are stupid. Sign a fair and reasonable deal and play hockey.
