Depth on D is a little young and questionable. Can the young guys up front step up, Patty, Oskar, TK. You'd Hope Soderberg helps the PK and we get a new PK coach!

Add Shea Weber.... this era's Pronger
I know a big cap hit, but he helps on PP on PK, adds vet leadership
He is just about to start playing this season
hell if he retires early, it doesnt hurt the Flyers

He wont play that long, and Nashville takes the hit if he retires prior to that

so I have a question for you (or anyone who wants to answer). What do you want to see happen? play more young players, bring in veterans instead of young players, continue to replace older veterans little at a time, something else?

I want to see more accountability in this organization.....from the GM to the coaches....to the players. Some performances from all three have really been questionable to poor at times , yet this organization doesn’t seem to want anyone to take responsibility.

I expect this organization to set higher standards then what seems to be acceptable at this point.

And they’ve played fine without him so far. They have other locker room guys

Why would a team make a player their team Captain, just to trade him a couple months later? Why would the Flyers take on that contract, attached to a player with a long term injury and the verge of the decline? He hasn’t played a game this season yet.

The Flyers actually could fit his cap hit in, they also lose Lehtera $ after this year, Amac in 2 yeras, not impossible $ wise
Yes, he might be in decline, Pronger was too when they got him, imagine his presence on the team to lead, guide, teach Provy, Ghost etc

So if the Flyers get solid goaltending, top 6 scores, bottom 6 defends, solid top 6 defense and young players perform to expectations...the Flyers will play better?

How do other teams with major holes in their lineup win cups?

If that was true fundamentals would never be a problem because every player has been coached on them. Since they were in Pee-Wee hockey.
- MJL

It's executing basic fundamentals that good teams and every NHL player should be able to do.

You're finally learning. So you can stop blaming the coaches for that and put the responsibility on the players. Progress!

Coaching ?
- flyhoc

I have stated numerous times coaching needs to change. Trying to figure out how a 3C and another goaltender makes the rest of the players play better.

If coaching isn't accountable for players executing, that only leaves players accounting for other players...so leadership goes and bring in new? If a player isn't playing well, how can they tell another player to play better? Maybe a player has to have accountability for themselves, but what if they think they are fine?

Update:
After reading that back to myself my head almost exploded. If players are accountable for themselves or others...this team is (frank)ed beyond words.

I would be curious about trying G back at center. Doesn't have to be forever with Frost lurking but that's probably your easiest 3C solution at this time. I know he's played better as a winger but Laughton has played great going back to the playoffs last year. Maybe he's earned an extended look.

Again I personally feel this team has options, whether it means line changes or players in the system. I personally like Giroux with Couturier because that gives them 2 great faceoff guys together. Although if the problem is they need a 3C to match up against other top lines then moving Coots down doesn't make sense. Most of the problems this team has seen isn't against players playing 6-8 minutes, it's against the players playing the top minutes.

Giroux and Coots together is 100% Hak. Maybe another coach would separate them again and even out minutes. Then again that involves changing things. The best tactic is to keep everything the same and eventually it will work...right?

I dont really believe in a shut down line but thats just me. Your top players need to be able to outplay the top players on the other team. Otherwise these shut down lines just end up playing too much and not really doing anything to help the team win (score goals themselves).

If moving G to the middle allows them to have a more balanced group so be it. I just dont want to see some 3rd line thrown out there in an archaic mindset of having to "match up".

I agree, I am not a fan of it either. It sucks Raanta is injured in Arizona right now, that team has zero scoring punch, but has goaltending and team defense. Seems like a good trade partner to help each other.

Correct. I think he plays a full year in the AHL at least.
