Remember when you were a kid and you and your brothers would be clowning around in the house annoying your mom and even though she told you to knock it off you'd still keep doing it and then dad came home, got the report from mom, and then he told you to cut the crap and suddenly you all behaved? Same kids, same message, different voice, different behavior.

IL = mom
New coach = dad

Kids and players are not the same thing. A coach and a business have way more stricter policies in place than a parent does with their kid. You beat your kid till the sun comes up, if there is no proof nothing can be done. In Business world there are always eyes watching. Best a coach can do is bench or scratch a player. When its multiple players it gets a little harder. You cant just scratch 5 players. Whos replacing them? You gonna demote them which is something I suggested and I was ripped apart because Lehtera and Weise would move up the line up. So basically your options are tied. You want to bench players but you dont want to play others ahead of them. What realistically do you expect? Laine is getting 4th line treatement. Clearly a 4th line guy was above him in the lineup. Didnt hurt the jets.

Hakstol is the head coach. Has been for multiple seasons. It’s his team. I do not for one second believe he doesn’t support the approach Lappy is taking.

It’s like taking an Advil when your head hurts during a stroke.

- flyer_nutter

How do you know that? Its a business. He isnt going to come out and throw Lappy under the bus. Its unprofessional. All he can do is talk with Hextall about it. Whether Lappy stays or goes is up to him. What can Hak do if he doesnt like the job Lappy is doing? Nothing. You have to realize that what is said to the media is not what he is thinking. It is a PR tactic nothing more. Players and coaches are both expected to be professional in interviews and not throw people under the bus and always turn things into a positive. That is how it works.

Imo if Hakstol didn’t like the approach Lappy is taking you would have seen Lappy out on his ass long ago. Or Hextall is even more of a moron keeping a HC and PK coach for multiple seasons who disagree about what should be done.

You’ve sunk to a new low as a GM when Peter (frank)ing Chiarelli realizes it’s time for a coaching change before you do.

Hypothetically if the Flyers lose the next 3 in a row are we going to see any changes made at all or will it still be status quo. I mean a 6 game losing streak is pretty terrible but I guess Hak got a 10 game leash last season so who knows at this point.

I actually think you'll see a trade.

i think Hextall will make a deal before a coaching change even though I think a coaching change is easier.

They need their sleep to get the most out of them. How you going to work them hard the next day from sun up to sun down if they were up getting beat all night.

ridiculous...

Then you're not as great of a parent as ShootWarAmps. That dude would feel nothing wrong with beating his kid since, you know, men don't really love their kids. That's how real men roll.

No. That's too much. I'm not moving the first too. If that's what they're asking they can sit on him.

Nadda.

Because, after you lose those assets, you need to meet his contract demands as well, and I'm not down with the trade alone, let aside signing him to what he wants.

Ok with all this talk about how its all the players fault, who's job is it to hold the players accountable? The coach.

In other words, if the players arent performing its either the coach's fault for not holding them accountable, the GM's fault for not getting players that can do the job, or the GM's fault for not holding the coach accountable for holding the players accountable. So which one is it? Who is to blame?

No. Myers should be up currently in playing for the magical duo in Folin/Mac.

Simmonds I don’t care about but the first could be a pretty high pick.

There's no way of knowing for sure but rumour is he wants slightly more than 7 per. You don't think he's worth that much?

NO ONE here is giving the players a pass...we have no control over the players.

The coaching staff does.

Fair enough I wouldn't make that deal either to be honest I just feel like that's what it would take to land him. Toronto reportedly wants a top 9 forward and a top 4 d man for him. I figure Myers doesn't meet the top 4 criteria as of yet so that's why I threw in the 1st. Honestly if they do make a trade I think they need to acquire a d man not lose one.

No.

I could see Edmonton being interested in Simmonds though. Add him to Drasitl wing.

Simmonds for Puljujärvi and Khaira?

Khaira would be a fan favorite here. I think Puljujarvi could use a change and brings skill and size.

Hell if they want to make it Simmonds and Hagg then sure.

The Flyers believed MacDonald was a top 4dman for years. Let’s see if the Leafs believe that too.
