This is bogus right now.

No one has a clue what these guys will be making. They could be willing to take less or will want to maximize their paycheque....there are plenty of each type of people in the NHL. We will find out soon enough what type of group we have.

Pierre Mcgauire said on the radio the other day the leafs will be in cap purgatory next year.

I can’t remember the host of the show but it was TSN 1050. He said “uhm...well no. They have good players and will have to pay them but this is not a situation like the Hawks and Kings after cup wins. They won’t have to deal off 3-4 players to keep the cap situation good. Their biggest concern is making sure they can keep everyone and they likely will.

Its not bogus right now at all. Even at the low end of comparables, their cap is a little tight.

Is it end of the world like some are preaching? No.
And they have Gardiner still address.

If they win the cup this year they will make so much money with endorsements and appearance fees they won't know what to do with it all. As long as they are respected properly in the payroll department I don't think it's going to be a huge issue.

Nylander was invisible on 4th line.
Nylander hugely profits from Matthews' presence on that line; teams want to make sure to cancel out Matthews' threat, so obvious Nylander gets more space to do his thing.
He lacks hockey sense though unless it's a very clear play he needs to make (which he has the hands to do so; but he doesn't see the play that well when in offensive zone unless a breakout)
