Kadri needs to be challenged. Needs that bigtime player like McDavid to shadow and be all over and shut down, or needs guys hating on him like in SJ to feed off of it seems.

I think Matthews and Marner are going to surprise everyone with reasonable contracts.

I genuinely think they only want to play here (Matthews said that privately in the Tavares interviews and publicly, in a Friedman interview) and are not going to be difficult to sign, nor do I think they'll cripple the team.

Nylander, he's the X factor: not really critical to our core, but I still think he'd put us over the top, probably more so than what kind of return he'd fetch for "help on D", which I think we'd lose unless we're talking about a Slavin/Hamilton/Trouba type player.

Sorry, got my numbers backwards. Marner is 2.06 p/60 and Nylander 2.04. I guess the difference is $4.2m.

Marner produces a bit more but also is the sparkplug, the one that drives the offence. He makes everyone else better and is better defensively. Nylander isn't the same as Marner, not at all. Agreed he has a better shot but you need Matthews to get it to him, he doesn't make everyone else better like Marner does. Marner > Nylander for me absolutely.

I always avoid beer in cans when possible. Always seems to affect the taste negatively for me. Much better from a bottle or on tap.
