I think it's important that we prepare for the time when some poop-for-brains runs Marner and injures him.
I'm gonna (frank)in' snap..
We need a goon who is always a healthy scratch except to (frank) up our enemies.. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Problem is that you don't always know ahead of time if a team is gonna play dirty. Sometimes you can predict, but when you can't and the guy is sitting in the press box... not much use.
Also, unless they are on at the same time, the best they can do is a late retaliation, which probably gets them punished badly. Even when on the same line, it's not like they're going to be following them around to dive in front of a bad check or something lol. Maaaaybe they can intimidate guys into playing nice. But I dunno if that really works. |

too much passing tonight

We really have to figure out more what is going on and why we can't seem to play our game and well at home with any consistency at all. We are amazing on the road but can't seem to do a damn thing right on home ice! |

Yeah. When you are always looking for the pass, you become too predictable. Sometimes you just gotta shoot. |

Exactly no point carrying a hack who can't play at all. That said if we can get a physical guy with some toughness that can hold a legit spot, chip in a bit, and not be a meathead with bad penalties then fine, but no way do you bother with someone who is going to see the ice a whopping 30 seconds of a game just as a deterent. |

No I’m not...
JVR is 15-20 points behind Backstom every season. Horrible argument there.
Look at the history. Kane, Atkinson, JVR all guys who barely get 60 points but get paid 7 million. Why? Because they score goals. - Santo_44
And I'm not saying Nylander deserves more than 7M either, it's just people seem to way undervalue a 22 year old with 60+ points in his first 2 seasons. Like some suggesting he is worth 4.5M and will maybe become a real first line player....
And everyone saying he didn't carry a line when Matthews was hurt, no poop he didn't he was playing a new position in the best league in the world with different line mates all while trying putting defence first. |

We really don’t need a goon CBJ are excellent down low cycling the puck along boards behind Anderson and this is getting leafs D out of sorts caught of guard. Yes leafs need help a new D man perhaps but as a whole team upping their 200 foot game. Regarding goons I said tkachuk and hamonic as an example because when a team is successful against you with their style of play are you going to stand watch and allow as a team? No we need 1-2 guys (new) that are known by their personalities and performance that play with an edge. Most petsay yes in playoffs game will be more rough. Yes but look how CBJ and man handling leafs in own zone and outplaying them. Feed them tkachuk or Kreider or Ferland. Make the trade and make this team even better but be sure to add some salt with the pepper. Toughness(which comes naturally to those who are that way by nature). You can not ask players to be tough that by nature are wired differently skill + speed eg marner |

I think 4.5 was suggested only on a 2-3 year bridge deal.
Not long term. |

He needs to stay onside. 2 good rushes that got wasted because brown went offside...both plays did look on side too, but still wasted rushes. - bryant
Brown is so tough. A little too good for a 4th line, but ideally not who we want on our 3rd considering Willy, Mitch and Kappy. |

Hyman i dont think deserves top line minutes..
JT knows Marner is his only passing option, Matthews with Nylander the same thing. That last shift where JT had no option but to pass to Hyman everyone knew he'd lose the battle and the pressure would be off. |

Who suggested 4.5?
Maybe one idiot? Maybe that would work for a bridge deal...
If you aren't saying he deserves more than 7 mil, what are you arguing for? Most people agree he's worth at least 6.5...
This whole goals discussion was started when someone suggested goals are more valued when being payed, which is true, if the point totals are similar. |

That was ugly. - Woderwick
Whole thing has been. We are jamming it up the flooded side repeatedly instead of controlling it, reversing to the clear man far side and setting up our break outs so we can get some speed. We are just all sorts of totally off tonight and it is damn brutal. |

Hyman wins most of the puck battles.
He's been one of the best players on this team this season so far. |

Agreed. He had great jr numbers but he has turned into a defensive forward with the leafs. He could probably be a 2nd/3rd liner with other teams but leafs have him playing that shutdown role. |

to be fair id say Nylander value in public opinion has gone up considerably... In the summer all you guys were saying Leafs will get him signed for 6... but he's worth between Ehlers and Pasta, so 6.5ish.. Now it's like whatever pay him 7.5 or 8 and let (frank)ing get back to murdering everyone.. |
