He's a fringe NHL player, but he is basically found money. I doubt he gets sent down mid season. There's other guys who have a,ready cleared, and probably will again.

Hes only got a 80 games under his belt. Usually the bottom 6 take longer to find their NHL games.

I was quite surprised when JB didnt sign a single junior or college free agent last season. I remember him wanting Ryan Kauffner and Max Verraneaou(spelling) both from Princeton. Lots of talk about Grant Hutton and a CHL guy Tye Febaher.

Could be guys not wanting to sign somewhere they don't see a legit opportunity to make the NHL squad. Van has so much prospect depth, and had just signed all the depth glue guys...

Stecher has been pretty good, like a free 2nd/3rd round pick.

all 3 of those college players opted to not sign anywhere and go back to school.

Yeah, maybe a half season in the AHL would have helped prop up his offensive game, but I'm sure there will be a bunch of people whining about him being a waste of skin because he scores only 4 or 5 times per year...

Funny but give it a rest for a bit. Both of you.

Read that Virtanen, Motte and Schaller had real good chances at 4-3 to tie the game up. When team was healthier, those goals were potted and confidence gained. Now its not happening.

I'm trying.... the constant snide remarks over the past 3 months are irritating though,

Those three I like in the bottom 6 although I'd like to see virtanen get 10 games on Peterson's wing.

Musta been a money issue I'm guessing ? You'd think all things being equal that quenville would have been down to coach a team with mcjesus on it .

Joel did do very well with Kane and Toews. Dallas missed playoffs last season with Hitch.

Hitch rubs everybody the wrong way... he knows how to win , but you need a team that's strong mentally to put up with his poop .

The team is definitely more fun to watch this year with Horvat, Pettersson & Boeser (when healthy), however, there's still A LOT of holes to be filled for this to be a competitive team. It's coming, slowly, but it is coming.

When I look at the evolution of the current Jets, some of those guys like Byfuglien, Little & Wheeler came from their Atlanta days back to 2010/11. That's eight years ago and last year was their first real breakout year. Just takes time.

Depending on the competence of your GM it could take 12 years or it could take 7 or 8, or a change in management, just gotta have faith.

I think your Marky hate is reaching Beafle like proportions. It will consume you if you don't take a breather. Allen (twice), Varlomov, Schneider, Raanta. These are the "starters" who the Jets have lit up for 5 goals so far this season. Including Markstrom, that's 6 out of 19 games they put up at least 5 goals.

I would have been just as happy to run with Bachman/Nielsson, or Bachman/Schneider or Markstrom/Bachman or whatever washed up playing in Europe making a comeback to the NHL goalie they dug up. Not saying markstrom isn't A problem, just that he isn't THE problem.

He has 2 years left on a manageable contract. If he was being used 40ish times per year he would probably be not too bad.

- 1970vintage

lol sure I admit the Marky hate but at the same time I realize he is not the FULL part of the problem. I just know what we get with him. Agree Marky would be a capable back up if he played a sheltered 25-35 games but that's not the case here right now.

not sure which way is best, but I would have guessed the Jets could have had a bit more success in the recent past if they would have made some moves. however, I think it was TL that wanted to follow the Jets model of not making moves, keeping picks and seeing how they develop.

draft and develop should be a constant.

yes, definitely more fun to watch. I like seeing them win, but still find the games entertaining. would love to see the club make the playoffs but we need more skill, players that drive the play, so I'm perfectly fine with missing the playoffs and hopefully we get a good pick.

A couple January tanks got them Pettersson and Juolevi each at 5th overall, one of them might turn out to be the Calder Trophy winner and the best player of his draft. A first or second overall would be nice though, I agree!!

Keep building!!
