I picture them more as Joe and Shemp...or maybe even Curly Joe. Moe and Curly are the creme de la creme of Stooges and certainly too good for Rutta and Manning.
- HawkintheD

All the world's a stooge is probably the one I can watch every day until I die, and it still wouldn't lose its funny magic. They are all good in my eyes, with plenty of weak ones later, but that is the best one to me.

For all you Stan Bowman fans out there!!

- Flying Puck

This is an interesting interview to get to understand Stanbo - particularly the serious health relapse Hodgkins lymphoma crisis he lived through (and Kaner's desire to continue to live with the Stanbo family during that time.)

Note that nothing in the interview changes my opinion of his very poor trade, cap management and contract decisions. If the Hawks improve dramatically under Colliton, SB will keep his job, pointing to his "playoff team" roster and the new coach he chose. If the Hawks don't get much better, McD/Rocky will still have had a chance to observe Colliton. If they like him and his performance, they can fire SB and find a new GM who they believe could work well with JC. If they don't like Colliton, they can fire SB and have the new GM pick a new coach.

For you GOT buffs, a movie on Netflix called "Outlaw King" was a pretty good watch.
There's actually a lot of flag insignias you will see as familiar.

I've had a similar feeling as well that Boqvist could end up being the odd one out. The numbers game (i.e. not enough slots to give to all of the D prospects who could hit their potential or at least prove to be serviceable everyday NHLers) could have any of them be trade bait. Boqvist could be because he could fetch a high return yet not handcuff the Hawks since Forsling, Jokiharju, Beaudin, and Mitchell are not consolation prizes. Having any of those in your top 3 is still really good.

Beaudin - Jokiharju
Hillman - Mitchell
Forsling - Carlsson
Krys

(Carlsson is LH but playing RHD in Rockford)

Again, this doesn't take into account future drafts, trades, and signings plus the fact that Keith and Seabrook are likely to play out their contracts as Blackhawks with Keith possibly re-upping a few more years at hopefully a hometown discount (thinking back on his comments about wanting to play until he's 45).

Whether Boqvist or another D prospect, the Hawks could do a Jones for Johansen swap to shore up on top 6 forward or even a Weber for Subban swap to acquire a different type of blueliner, particularly a shutdown defender.

- AEL_Fox

This is my thoughts exactly why I could see him going. With his concussion history and him being an elite prospect he could fetch a damn good return but again, as we've both said, time will tell with all the moves that are made who ends up sticking around for this team

Whaaat? Boqvist is the Hawks best D prospect. There are not 4 other D ahead of him - in fact there is not one ahead of him.
- Z3Hawk

I meant those are the four most likely IMO to be Top 4 D-men besides Boqvist. He's by far our best prospect (maybe besides Joki) but with his concussion history he might make the most sense to trade to A.) avoid that hurting the team and B.) he would be far fetch the best return I.E. a future legit #1 Center or elite shooter.

The Hawks have not been drafting D-Men by design. Quite the opposite - the Hawks have been clearly drafting the player they believe is the best player available, with the highest up-side, whether D-Man or Forward.
- Z3Hawk

Whether it was by design or not, he's stocked the cupboard with Defensemen and that should help the Hawks be able to make a trade for an impact forward at some point

I bet Hossa gets a one day contract with the hawks after his current contract expires so that he can retire as a hawk.
- ToewsdNKanefusd

Ohh I agree 110%. He will be back with the Hawks one way or another once this contract is up. Wish we still had him playing though

Panarin was signed to be traded for Saad for the same money. The Hawks had no intention of having Panarin start the next season with them.
- Z3Hawk

If any of this were somehow true it would be the single best indictment of Bowman on this board ever.

There is a reason Bovqist was sent to London - to play in a top junior program under a coach who had a long NHL career and is known for developing excellent pros. And his brother Mark is one of the best bird dogs in the business. You can be sure the Hawks will have a complete assessment of their player and it will be accurate. They didn't draft this kid #8 with any intention of trading him.

We're a quarter past call-up time, haha.
Before or after Christmas does he move out of Rock?
Thanks for the update.

In one of his interviews, JC talked specifically about Sikura. Coach really seemed to believe that Dylan needs to stay in Rockford for a while. Didn't sound like he was planning to bring him up soon. I'll see if I can find it.

Do you guys think it would be worth trying to get Dylan Strome out of Arizona?
Maybe a change of scenery, an old linemate in ADB and the guidance of Toews/Kane could turn his career around?
If AZ was willing to sell low of course...

E-man, we don't have a third this year, we do next year, unless that's what you meant. I'm sure you were joking on the sell low.

Whatever it takes to get Gustafson out of the Hawks lineup. His defensive shortcomings outweigh his offensive contributions IMO.

He was a hero for 2 games. He has a juicy turnover nearly every game. I hear ya. I get frustrated with him a lot.

Slow night, thought this was kinda interesting reading about goalie SPG and the value of 1st pairing Dmen. They also get to Crow down the article. https://dobberhockey.com/...-spooner-and-more-nov-19/

Thanks for the post, Rico, it has been a boring ass day. I don't think Nylander should be on the team's radar due to his price, but I would hate to see him in our division.
Just my idiosyncrasy, whenever I see "Dobber" my mind instantly goes to the show Coach.

Dobber is the bible for fantasy players but as you can see just as valuable non-fantasy stuff. Put your arrow on Tools top right, click report generator and you get loads of stats. Better than NHL.com IMO.

Haven't read this thread but what I see is talk of Hawk Dman. They are soooooooo hard to find you can see why a guy has to prove he can't play over and over and over before he's given up on then another organIzation gives him a chance.

Makes the Boqvist drafting more important.

Defensive shortcomings relate to his on ice IQ which is often at 1 above lettuce - as in 'what the hell were you thinking on that play'? But he has some reasonable physical skills that another team might like nearer the trade deadline.

I love Jokiharju and Forsling is a much better defender than Gustafson. I’d like to see Forsling-Jokiharju as the 2nd pair with Gustafson in a sheltered 3rd pair role with mostly O-zone starts.

We can only hope Boston still needs defenders at the deadline Rick. Though, Gustafson playing about 22 minutes a night helps the #Tank.

If Gustafsson is in the lineup, pair him with a stay-at-home partner like Manning or Murphy (once he returns). Then either:

1) Keep Keith and Seabrook together and pair Forsling with Jokiharju,

OR

2) Revert back to Keith + Jokiharju and Forsling + Seabrook.

Why? Saad has 6 goals, Panarin has 5 goals. Saad kills penalties, forechecks hard, is younger, trains hard in Chicago and seems to be a model team-mate.

For some reason I always think they are the same age, but Panarin is 1 year older. My knock on Saad, like your knock on Panarin, is personality. Only being in it for yourself. I think Saad can have a sour attitude as well. Being told to wear a white jersey. His conference on it, he did his best to hide what he thought and felt, just not effectively. Seabrook took being scratched better than Saad did who wasn't even scratched. Saad has bounced back in a big way the last 2-2 1/2 weeks, which is always welcome.

Meh...to me Saad has always seemed a little uncomfortable around cameras, maybe not the sharpest knife in the drawer and not what you'd characterize as a real "firecracker" in the personality department...which if you go by interviews equates to about 90% of all hockey players.

Can't remember what all this is about but have to say I really like how Saad has been playing since the white jersey thing. He's definitely been even better of late and you have to wonder if some of that can be attributed to playing with more confidence as a result of scoring; and/or playing a bit looser with a different guy behind the bench.
