Golden era of hockey for the Hawks..I think the following players have their numbers retired... Keith, Hjalmarsson, Seabrook, Sharp, Toews, Hossa, Kane...maybe crawford. Would not surprise me one bit to see all of those guys going up in the rafters. Not saying any should or shouldn't. Just what I suspect. - frafra
You'd never believe it was the golden era of hockey in Chicago the way many Hawk fans on this site rag on the players, not only now but when they were winning Championships.

Not sure Hossa is blackhawks number retirement category. Great all around player here, but there a few more in line well ahead of him that should have their numbers retired first.
I would retire Chelios, Keith, Larmer, and Roenick before considering retiring Hossa
Great contributor when here, but 415 pts in 534 games isnt exactly jersey retirement worthy - Stan_Bowman
Being a big part of 3 Cups carries a lot of weight. |

BIG difference. Rundblad was on a team that won a Cup. Hossa was a primary force in his team winning a Cup, X3. - scottak

Would have to agree. Not sure if 81 gets retired. The next numbers to be retired are likely 2, 7, 19, and 88. 7 for both Chelios and Seabrook like 3 for Magnuson and Pilote. 2 for Mironov and Quint. I mean, for Keith.
Don't know if 27 or 28 will ever be retired for Roenick and Larmer. One would think they would have done it by now. Could be wrong but don't think Savard was that long retired before 18 went to the rafters. - AEL_Fox
81 is a lock for the Hockey HOF. He was a primary contributor to 3 SC as a Blackhawk. And you’re not going to retire his number? |

Add in 1000+ games, 500+ goals, 1,000+ points, not bad for a depth player.

According to Stan, they all are just another guy. 19, 88, 4, 81, 50, 10, 7, 2, & Q couldn't have won three Stanley Cups without him. Stan thinks his number should be retired first. |

Catching up on the blog pages, I can and can't believe the McLellan firing. I never cared for him, I liked him more than Yeo, but that isn't saying much. 4 in 2 months for coaches fired. Crazy! Who else is on the hot seat as far as coaches? |

I'm guessing Rutherford is super happy the Penguins are in the basement. Considering he just got a extension, I bet Sullivan is next. |

I think that this last firing takes care of all the rumoured ones for now. |

Good points. No argument from me if his number is retired but wouldn't be surprised if the decision makers decide to not retire 81. The latter part is what I meant when I said not sure if 81 is retired. Sorry for not being clear about that.
Who decides anyway? Is there a Board of Trustees or other similar body? Maybe the Blackhawks Alumni Association? |

Panarin, reported might want 10-11 Mil. Not signing him Long term might end of looking like one of Bowmans biggest blunders. at the time I have to think 7 X 8 would have gotten him signed. |

John McDonough.
Right after he figures out how to unload his stash of Viktor Stålberg and Kimmo Timonen bobblehead dolls. |

Colliton had Manning-Rutta on the 3rd pair today at practice... no Forsling in the lineup.
One can only hope they are showcasing those 2 as the best 3rd pairing duo ever... then trade them together after tomorrow's game. |

I would sit Seabrook and let Forsling play. Especially on the back to backs. Rutta and Manning as a showcase??? Are the lights dim in DC? |

What could they collectively get, JL? Conditional third, ahl, bottom depth ... |

Justin any rumblings of trade talk regarding the hawks or waiting to see how the defense looks when murphy comes back? To me the most pressing need is bottom six scoring now whether that comes from within or via trade needs to be address as soon as possible. Plus IMO the next 10 games could decide the hawk's season, a lot of tough quality opponents. So Justin who would you like the hawks to go after to improve the team specifically. Would you trade smaltz? |

Panarin was signed to be traded for Saad for the same money. The Hawks had no intention of having Panarin start the next season with them.

I picture them more as Joe and Shemp...or maybe even Curly Joe. Moe and Curly are the creme de la creme of Stooges and certainly too good for Rutta and Manning. |
