Welcome back Justin! I hate to burst your bubble but I think you drank 1 to many beers , with your resounding yes.

This team has along way to go . If you look at the overall picture, they can't sustain a offensive attack, the power play Kane can't be on the ice for a full 2 minutes guys need to step up. Schmaltz has 1 point in 9 games? Kunitz , manning , Kruger, Davidson all should be scratchednand traded that is clear when their in the line up their useless.

The bottom 6 guys need to step up immediately . But hey 3 points in 2 games, it's a start.

Secondary scoring will begin to come around. The ideas that Schmaltz will not end up with 50 or 60 points is crazy. Like he forgot how to score or make plays. Its like listening to Chicago fans blame Trubisky for not being 10 and 0 instead of 7 and 3. No proportionality to their level of experience etc....but hey....that is Chi Town!!!

JC's strategy is to go status quo and let guys work themselves out and new ones in. There is no doubt that JC, assistants and SB all know what this roster will look like come Christmas, but you can't make drastic changes, instead you promote guys and let them prove why they will be replaced.

For PP to be effective, Kane has to set up closer to goal line, Watch Kucherov and Tampa PP. Sort of like Caps. There are too many options not to get good looks. It too will come along.

Points in 4 straight, a positive sign. Caps game will be a good test.

In the ultimate irony, Friday at Tampa, in 2010 I went to game in Tampa, sat behind benches and what stood out was how exhausted Lacavelier and other Lightning players were during commercial breaks. Hawks absolutely swarmed them and wore them out. Lightning will look to do the same.

Those pining for big rugged corner guys need to watch Tampa, Point, Johnson, Gourd, Cirelli, Callahan, Paquette, Joseph all win more puck battles then they lose. Winning on the wall is about heart and effort and not necessarily size. Lightning down Vasilevsky for a bit, was without Hedman for 3 weeks, now stralman and palat, imagine the hawks without Seabrook, Keith, Crow and Saad for extended time. Lightning, like all good teams keep winning and getting points.

Friday, Hawks will be looking in the mirror, dated 8 years ago.

Thoughts and 🙏 for all of those impacted by the event on Mercy hospital's campus today. We might be rivals on the ice/to a lesser extent in the stands but we're one everywhere else.

I heard the hawks but a pair of shinguards in an empty pair of skates about 10 feet inside the blue line and have Keith hammer his shots into them in practice.

I agree with you about Chicken Fat - if he doesn’t end up at that point level, he should at least be at that pace for most of the rest of the season.

Problem is - I don’t consider him to be secondary scoring - he (along with Toews, Kane, Saad, AdB) are the PRIMARY scorers - the presumed top-6 each of whom should be at 20+ (or 30+) goals. Even if they split them up somehow to create some third-line production, those are your scorers.

It’s the rest of the forwards that they need some production from - the Ks, Fortin, Martinsen, Anisimov, Johnson, Hayden - who among that group CAN EVEN (not should - can) get to 10? Yeah, Anisimov maybe gets back on track, maybe Sikura comes up an surprises. To be a winning team contending for a tournament invitation, they need 1 1/2 goals per game from that group.

I took the Kings/Hawks in Friday.

Very anecdotal, but what I saw was about one "dangerous" line on each team and a whole of of missed passes and rough edges to two teams that don't look too confident. I have a hard time imagining the bottom half of the roster (D/Fwd/G) climbing the standings in a loaded Central Division.

i'll still watch and enjoy, just not too enthused about what I see. Hope I'm wrong.

Schmaltz has 2 goals, 6 assists, 8 points, after 21 games. That's a quarter of the season. If he doesn't play on Kane's line, he won't get close to 60 points.

Coming into this season, Schmaltz had 27 goals and 53 assists in 139 games. That equates to 16-31-47 over a full season. He’ll be lucky to get to 40 points this season, and his only chance to get to 60 is letting him center Kane and some other sniper not now on the roster.

Great points....

I think we will see more Fortin, some Sikura and maybe other offensive options at Rockford that I am not aware of?

Another Random thought for the graduate level fans on the board.

Many do not like the talent cupboard and prospects, but I had this stray thought the other day.

I believe the HAWKS are following the Predators model. That is draft and develop defense men stock those shelves build depth and use those trade chips to obtain developed offensive talent. I can't rattle them off like some of you can, but there are a number of solid prospects, great skaters with mobility and offensive and defensive sense, which is needed. Gone are the days of the number 1 and 2. I believe it is about having 4 or 5 solid skating d man.

It takes a village to build a hockey team.

I laugh, in a positive way, when I see Richton Park. Back in the early 90s, Sega hockey 93 or 94 ish, spent a lot of times there in my buddies town home.

Spent time with the boys playing sega and watching hockey.... Good times. Lived in Chicago Heights at the time.....

For the PP to be effective, Kane needs to be on the bench.

Everyone defers too much to Kane. They all just stand still, feed Kane the puck, and wait for him to do something magical.

I honestly feel like the PP might be better if more of the players on the ice truly felt like they are the best player on the ice. As long as Kane is out there, no one else will have the confidence to try to be “the man”.

Yeah, idk if you know about Lincoln Mall. It was the hot spot in the 80s and even the 90s. It is a big rubble pile now. 3 mins away from my house. Park Forest used to be great as well. Everything is either gone or changed. Sad.

Good points, I think that all can be accomplished with philosophical commitment.

I know its not popular here, but again I reference tampa. even was. it is about options. There is always an advantage, it is just a matter of taking what is presented. Binary choices. Not choices based upon first and second option preferences....

Build a team?? The hawks had every piece needed to win but unwisely squandered them all for nothing in return. Instead of building they destroyed a team. Need new mgt. Need at least a chance of healing. Don't have one now. Bring back Panarin and unlock Kane to hit 100 points again.
