If Panarin won't resign there you need to get something for him

If they are missing playoffs... or on the cusp... sure... trade him as your odds are slim. But leading their division... and you basically spit in the face of everyone on the team and the fans by trading your best player. Will it hurt if he leaves for nothing. Sure... but could still trade his rights in the offseason for a draft pick.

Columbus is in a very tough spot with Panarin and Bob seemingly not wanting to resign there.

Isn't it worse for a team to give up something for him knowing he probably won't resign there?

Teams overpay for rental players all the time, and they already have the best rental option on their roster.

Believe me the team trading for Panarin is going to check for him resigning there or else the offer will be a lowball.

Don't need any hindsight. It was obvious the Leafs weren't Cup contenders and that JVR would not be re-signed. Should've been traded

You know who else werent contenders? 2010 Flyers and Hawks as well as the 2012 LA Kings. Hawks and Flyers had no goaltending and Flyers and Kings both finish 8th just barely making the playoffs. Anything can happen in the playoffs. You dont deal away assets before a playoff run. That is why GMs rarely do it.

Blues missed the playoffs last season because they did this.

There are 4 scenerios for CBJ

1) Their GM is an idiot and deals their stars before a playoff run. No really this is literally the dumbest option. Why do you work yourself into a bad draft position to make the playoffs to deal away the players that give you any chance to win? GMs trade for rental players every year, why are internal rental players viewed any differently?

2) They struggle in the 2nd half and are in a position to miss the playoffs so they deal their rental players away.

3) They make an equally beneficial trade with another team. They have starts that wont sign perhaps there is a swap out there for stars that will stay or will sign.

4) They stay put.

bob wants 10 mil is the reason columbus won't sign him. not him leaving for a better city. good luck bob on getting that kind of money somewhere else.

What it really is is the biggest heap of made up garbage on any hockey site. Done by a clueless buffoon with absolutely no understanding of the game.

Dearest Ek:

What's up with all of the ads and the malware on the buzz these days? Seems like it's worse than it's ever been? Can you share some rumors on how I can avoid this?

Thank you.
