I know Jcrag isn’t making the Kane>Skinner or Kane = Skinner argument. And it’s more about the contract, but all you need to do is watch and see the difference between the two on this team.

One is constantly creating offense whether shooting, passing, forechecking etc.

The other one would take shots from anywhere, and ruin O zone posesssion at times.

It isn’t really close

- sbroads24

You would think that right?

I mean it's a no brainer that Skinner is worth more to this team than what Kane signed in San Jose for.

I will consider it a win if Botts gets Skinner signed for under $9 million

It's all about finding contract comparables from expiring deals.

Botts will use Kane.

Stone is another one, although only a 1-year deal. He has over .8 ppg

$7.35 for Stone on a 1 year deal.

I'm not even going to mention Pastranak. He should fire his agent

Idk, signs point to under $8m for me. And yeah, i like Skinner way more than Kane

I love canned cranberry sauce. The real kind sucks and anyone that prefers the real kind can go fornicate themselves with a stick.
- kritter65

Call me strange but fresh or canned cranberry and fresh and boxed stuff are two things ill take either way.

As long as the pies are fresh its all good in the hood.

Havent looked but is he the best scorer for pending free agents?
Cause if hes #1 then under 9 is going to be a steal, but figure the best scorer will get a boatload of money

But they're not comparable contracts because they're not comparable players

Any halfway decent agent will be able to show that. Hell I was able to show that in 10 minutes.

Considering he is tied for 2nd in the league in goals? Yes he is the best pending UFA on the market.

There are a few pending RFA's though

There is also Panarin though

With all due respect, i don't think you did. They're within 4 games and 20 points of each other. They are different players, but i think they're as close to a direct comparable as you'll find. Both pending UFAs with similar age, injury history and production. Difference of opinion, i guess

Injury history??

Kane plays in 83% of possible games, Skinner 93%

Skinner missed time due to 1 major injury

Kane has had several major injuries

It is my job. It is aggravating, importing steel is NOT easy. The paperwork and bullpoop we need to clear through customs is a female dog.

Awwwww. Keep filling out those 7501s and paying those sweet, sweet duty checks. Thanks for keeping me employed.

So 10% fewer games expected lost to injury = 8 games. 10%

Skinner's agent wants 10% more than Kane, + inflation

Botterill counters the injury history with a physicality argument

They agree on inflation, plus an extra year of guaranteed salary - 8 x 7.65

and Botts gives Skinner all of his cash during the lockout year as a bonus on July 1, which could be 7.65 for 0 games played that year

Because the Sabres were so good with Kane and his "physicality" As any agent will say look at how the game is being played these days, speed and skill beat physicality all day.

9 more points per year, plus inflation, plus more games being played, plus better production this year, plus better production with Eichel...

We will agree to disagree here

I liked Kane and wanted to keep him here but not at 7 million a season. It's too bad because he would be a good 2nd line LW to play with Casey and Sam this season.

But Skinner has done more for this team in 20 games than Kane did his entire two plus seasons here and the numbers aren't even close.

Kane scored 20 goals his first season here in 65 games

Skinner is at 14 goals in his first 21 games, he will have 20 over his first half season here...

If YOU had YOUR WAY,
we’d still be locked into a deal with Shattenkirk for another 5 years
That’s why even though it was 2 years ago,
your horrible take is still relevant

Again, you aren't subtracting our discount for being a contender now. If Skinner wants a Cup he'll take 7.5 and be happy about it!

$8.5 is a discount with how the cap is

If he hits open market, there will be teams lining up on his doorstep since they know they aren't on Panarin's destination list.

$9.5-$10.5 would be what he gets if he hits the open market and puts in 40 goals with 70 assists.

Right or wrong, that's just how free agency works

I was lukewarm on Kane, so this really has nothing to do with my like or dislike of Kane. But a Kane, M. Tkachuk, or Ovie type winger with physicality never goes out of style in the NHL.

As to the second part, I agree totally. But i don't think the Sabres will pay for the 20 games out of a 599 game sample size. I think Kane sets the market, and Skinner does slightly better

I brought him up as a possibility
There’s a difference between saying,
“What about Alzner?”
And you trying to convince us that Shattenkirk was a good defenseman bc of his Corsi

I didn’t go to battle saying we should sign him like u did with Shattenkirk
And u know it

U can’t even own your bad take,
you just try to deflect bc of how horribly wrong you were

Appreciate the sentiment. I have a friend who lives in South Jersey and he is thoroughly enjoying giving his Philly friends poop about us doing well.

Will anyone admit to a worse lunch than this? I don't know if this can be beaten without talking about spoiled food.

I salted and peppered a can of garbanzo beans for dinner in college once. Still better than a can of cranberry sauce though.

I have a problem throwing questionable food away. Like my taste for beer, my acceptance of food quality is an overly obtuse spectrum.
