I don' think Skinner waives his NTC to come to Buffalo if he is not at least wanting to resign, I would like to believe that the two sides have talked.

i can tell you one thing for sure. If we don't resign Skinner Botts is going to have some splaining to do.......

- hehateme

Skinner probably thought about playing with eichel and boosting his numbers.

Here in buffalo or elsewhere

As a flyer fan I hate the sabres but a little part of me feels happy for you guys for some reason. You’ve been drug threw the slop for awhile

You know, when I wrote that, I said to myself:

"Just watch, some asswipe is gonna go and make this a racist emmeffing thing, and I will wind up disappointed."

And then I said, "Naw, not even among this group of doorknobs."

Great play, Gordo. Don't hurt yourself today.

I'll fall on the pitch fork this afternoon...

it's just a saying... does it really have to be a race thing??

I think the real question is, is dark meat acceptable in chicken salad.

I ate a can of cranberry sauce for lunch once. I wish I could explain my actions.

- TheSabresTaco

Will anyone admit to a worse lunch than this? I don't know if this can be beaten without talking about spoiled food.

I salted and peppered a can of garbanzo beans for dinner in college once. Still better than a can of cranberry sauce though.

Plus i believe berglund sibotka...... there is a ton there too.

Whos really on the books 3 years out?

- hubie

Yup, Sobotka's 3.5 is off too.

It's really all about Mitts and Dahlin. You'll have Sheary, Reinhart, McCabe and Ullmark to give raises to along with them. Not a dire situation, but could get hairy if Dahlin/Mitts are overly expensive.

Trade Skinner to Coyotes for 1 game,
Coyotes sign 7x9,
trade back and retain $3m in exchange for Girgs and a 3rd

- jcragcrumple

There will be contract talks coming for Skinner in the new year.

Sheary is what this team needs more of. Fast, cheap and 20 goal pace. I would not be happy.

The Okposo GWG a few games back was a direct result of Sheary's speed

I like all of these players, particularly with their current cap hits. I consider them all to be high end depth players right now and are getting paid accordingly.

Ullmark is in line to be the starter of the future. Don't want to loose him at this juncture.

He is an ideal 2nd/3rd line LWer.

I would love to see an ideal lineup for something like this in the future

Skinner Eichel Olofsson
Nylander Mittelstadt Reinhart
Sheary E-Rod Smith
Girgensons Malone Larsson

It's very important that they start playing in 2020-2021 if they wait an extra year the Sabres are going to lose someone pretty good.

This scares me and I don't like thinking about it. We will likely be in a much tougher spot than we were with the Vegas draft.

Is there any consensus as to when this might actually happen?

Botterill handled the last one well. He wasn't really in any danger other than Ullmark, but he navigated that well.

What did Minny do? Tuch, Haula and a pick so they wouldn't take Staal or Dumba?

Does anyone like Sprong at all? I need to watch for him tonight to see whats up.

He looks like a sniper in highlights, but those are his high end plays, need to see what he does elsewhere, not to mention he does not have a lot of highlights.

Could he be a player to get that is 21 and low cap hit for a few years? Worth a 2nd?

I remember him getting big praise and almost making it on the roster out of camp then all of a sudden disappeared.

If it goes to 2021-2022 season:

Dahlin
Jack
Casey
Skinner
Reinhart
Risto
Okposo
Nylander
Pilut
McCabe
Ullmark
Sheary if here still
E-Rod

Plus any other additions to the roster

Would all either be protected or left unprotected

So yes Botts made a good deal but other GMs should have learned with what Vegas was able to do and collect picks so I am not sure what will happen with Seattle

Using the Kane vs Skinner comparable

Kane:

Has played 595 out of a possible 725 games just over 82% of his games

Skinner:

Has played 599 out of a possible 642 games just over 93% of his games

Take into account of ppg .62 for Kane and .66 for Skinner and amount of games per season:

Kane based on his career averages, plays about 67 games per season. So with his ppg average and games per season he averages 41.5 points per year.

Skinner plays 76 games per season. at .66 ppg he averages 50.1 points per season. 9 more points per season on average.

Is this alone worth an extra million per year? No, but both players are supposed to be goal scorers right?

Breaking down their goals per game:

Kane .324 goals per game
Skinner .363 goals per game

Games played per season production:

Kane 21.7 goals per season
Skinner 27.5 goals per season

6 more goals per season

So Skinner averages 6 more goals per season and 3 more assist per season than Kane does based on career numbers.

Now we have a small sample size of production of playing in Buffalo and it is hard to compare the two teams.

But lets look at the roles each are playing with their current team:

Kane is a second or third line winger in San Jose and is getting paid $7.5 million per season. Currently he is playing on the 3rd line.

Skinner is a first line LWer who has fit right in with Jack.

Skinner is playing over a ppg pace with Buffalo.

Kane was never even close to that with his time here.

- Stripes77

I know Jcrag isn’t making the Kane>Skinner or Kane = Skinner argument. And it’s more about the contract, but all you need to do is watch and see the difference between the two on this team.

One is constantly creating offense whether shooting, passing, forechecking etc.

The other one would take shots from anywhere, and ruin O zone posesssion at times.

It isn’t really close

I love canned cranberry sauce. The real kind sucks and anyone that prefers the real kind can go fornicate themselves with a stick.
