This is astounding.
I know some if these revalations may be a little difficult for some of you to understand. If you need further clarification, I would suggest contacting Tanner directly. I think his is the only intellect towering enough to decipher the complexity of Yost's analyses. - Aetherial
I have to agree.. 3 player responsible for 55% of edm offense is something

He is a 20 goal scorer that wants to be paid like a 40 goal scorer. After his ECL, Playing with one of the best in the league.

Even the guys on TSN are saying how painful this has become. - bixll
I agree ...it's painful. But both sides are negotiating hard on this one.
I'd expect Dubas will finish up his 'get your best offers on the table' process this week. If he gets one he likes he'll let that team chat with WN about a contract. If he doesn't then he and WN will start working out a bridge deal. |
|
|
|
I hope as well - but I was never a big Nylander fan.
He's a floater that profited hugely from playing on Matthews' wing. - plantheparade
are all Matthews' wing men floaters?
or just the ones that haven't signed? |
|
|
|
Exactly.
The last couple years, players want double digits after 2 years. The bridge deal is disappearing. - Aetherial
Yeah which is a shame because they are built to help a team keep several players in place to build a good deep team instead of an average team around two guys. Look at how that has killed Edmonton paying almost 30M to three guys and one of them not living up to their contract. Can't blame a guy though for looking out for himself and wanting to get paid early on before a possible injury hurts his future earnings.
Like i said, times are changing. Guys getting paid now for potential as opposed to what they've accomplished. - systemtool
Yeah and that's a very difficult thing to deal with considering how hard set the cap is in the NHL. Not like if a guy doesn't live up to that they can buy him out to lose the cap hit and pay him an agreed amount over a period of time. The fact that it counts against the cap is a killer for team.s
That will all depend on the salary cap in the next several years. - systemtool
Agreed. Bowman expected the cap to go up a lot more than it actually did and it cost us. Not an easy thing to manage.
The new CBA will be very interesting to see how it works out. I really hope that change the buy out policy counting against the cap and the rules against player not being able to retire without it counting against the cap too. It's just stupid and makes the league look bad when low market teams are trading for guys contracts to hit the cap floor.

Yes, it is shocking how Boston is even more top-heavy, and Yost remains employed. |
