He won a cup? - Glak18
I meant Trotz, the guy who replaced the guy who replaced the guy who replaced him.

Rather look into Quick over Carter. If you end up bumping Coots to the 3rd then it makes more sense to just trade him for a true 3C and a pick. - Glak18
Quick is under contract til 2023. This is where the "wait and see what Hart is" angle becomes tricky.
If Hart is legit you don't want to be tied to Quick for that long. But if Hart doesn't pan out that's the kind of trade I'd be looking to right now to solve the continuous issues in net. |

I like the idea of Quick at the right price, I just dont think there will be a right price.
Flyers do need a goalie they can depend on, Elliot is playing well but he can't carry the load and injuries are becoming frequent. For the team someone like Quick would help the mental part, until he gets hurt |

Being considered one of the best in the league sometimes comes after winning. How many teams haven't won while having one of the best coaches in the league? The best coaches in the league eventually get fired. - MJL
I guess you could go that route, but most coaches on the list of Stanley Cup champs were considered the better ones in the league before winning. Keep in mind I didn't say best coaches of all-time...I said best coaches in the league.
I don't think anyone would call Hak one of the best right now, are you saying he has to win one to be called that? |

The Flyers need a proven Stanley Cup caliber goalie.

I'm not sure what led you to believe that anything I said there was specific to Hakstol.

What does legit mean though? If the expectation is for a 21 year old Hart is going to start playing in the NHL, win a Calder and be considered one of the best in the league then expectations are way too high. Even Price struggled his first 2-3 years in the league. Remember most people laughed at the Canadians for a bust of a goaltender for years. Then he was called the best in the league and people said Price was the whole team. Of course now he sucks balls again. Same with Quick and Rinne...both considered garbage a couple years ago. |

Nothing was, I asked a direct question about Hakstol. Personally I wouldn't consider him top 20 in the league. |

Legit in the people who think he's a generational goaltending talent that will translate to the NHL in the next two-three years.
For what it's worth I think they need to address the issues in net now and if Hart pans out, great. That's a better problem to have then where the goaltending is now. |

Ok well with that definition then no, I don't believe he is considered a generational goaltender. If people expect generational then they will be disappointed big time. |

Hakstol has not earned the accolades of being a top coach in the league to this point.

While I don’t love him, it’s hard to rank coaches because there are so many factors that go into it.
My biggest regret is letting Lavy go. He was fired for less than the product under Hakstol. |

Lavy also had a roster with Stanley Cup aspirations Hakstol has had a team that is retooling. |

Firing Laviolette was the right move at the time. In fact it was done too late. It needed to be done in the off season. |

What has Lavy done with Nashville? Took a young team that was retooling and brought them to the Cup.
His Islanders, Hurricanes, and Predators teams were all low budget teams that he made the most out of what he had. And correct me if I’m wrong, we’re the Flyers in 2010 a Stanley Cup contender? |

I disagree. Hindsight is 20/20 though. He is the perfect coach for what the Flyers have been going through the last few years. |
