Watching Edmonton closely last few years gives me no confidence the JP can play C much less #1?!??
His defensive game is horrendous for starters and his skating def lacks the two way game. Never played C in his career so faceoffs be a concern.

Breaking news...

NHL.com notes that Tampa has Stamkos, Point, Gourde, Miller, Johnson, Cirelli, and Paquette all playing centre!! It's helped them rack up like 94 points but they recognize that 7 lines isn't too practical for the NHL.

So this is an E5 rooomer that Tampa will trade one of their 7 centres for a winger. They have always coveted a veteran like Patrick Marleau, but alas, he is listed by NHL.com as one of Toronto's 7 centres. Tampa wishes they held onto Jonathan Marchessault who is thriving as a first line winger in Vegas. Oh wait. He's a centre too. Must be on the 2nd line after William Karlsson. This league needs more wingers!

I calculated Vancouver with only 55 points from there centers not 62. Because of there injuries there 7 Centers are Pettersson, Horvat, Sutter, Beagle, Granlund, Gaudette, Gaunce.

Toronto's centres have 70 points...but they do have Patrick Marleau as a 5th line center with a respectable 12 points. Great production from your 5th line right Ek? Moron!

I have a subscription here and the athletic. I wont be renewing it for this site. The rumors are interesting but the one today about Pool Party being a center...so laughable. Not to mention no Columbus Blue Jackets blogger on site. Wish Ek the best but not worth paying for the site.

Domi has taken 300 faceoffs. Clearly a centre. But not included in Ek's calculations. Drouin, however, is considered a centre by Ek despite playing virtually every shift as a winger. Solid analysis Ek!!
