Sure, but there are only so many trades that can be made.
5v5 this team is pretty good, really. The special teams are killing them. Major player changes aren't necessary, imho. A smaller move may shake up the team a little but until they start executing well on special teams it doesn't matter. - Scoob
They fired Mullen, and the pp regressed under Knoblauch, but until this year it’s been generally good, so I’m willing to give him a chance. The PK is a disaster right now, how Lappy still has his job is beyond me. |

Wayne would not be a guy that I would play in the 3 on 3 ever. Not fast, not super skilled, and not defensively responsible anymore.
I’d roll with G, Jake, Coots, TK, Laughton and Patrick. But hey, Simmonds scored an OT winner once so what do I know? - Flyers1218
Simmonds belongs out there. He's a goal scorer. If defensively responsible is part of the criteria than that eliminates Konecny and Voracek.

they should change their jerseys to CB’s shirt design. - hammarby31
LOL. Shame on you Hammar if you thought they'd win once they tied the game. You know better! |

You do realize how long it takes for a GM to have an impact on a team, right? Hextall's guys are just now coming up. There is no way a new GM will have an impact on this team right away. It takes years.
The change, imho, has to come at the PK and PP coaching level. Get those working right and a lot of good things come with them. - Scoob
My entire point, with most of my posts is:
This team CANNOT win as constructed. PERIOD.
Therefore we have to improve it...
The current Admin inherited HORRIBLE CONTRACTS.
And they will not, (no assumption because they have not so far) PAY THEIR WAY out of bad contracts, (created by previous management).
My guess is due dead money being wasted (SINCE THEY CANNOT COMPETE AS-IS)...Without at least SOME DRAFT BARGAINS...
So therefore: there will be a strange, ambiguous, NEW WEIRD, hockey period where we suck but everything is great at the same time.

Agreed. There are a bunch of forwards who should be out there before him. Hell, I'd even get Sanhiem out there in a forward spot before him. - hereticpride
I would use Travis as the 3rd defenseman in the OT rotation and pair him with the more defensive forwards in Laughton and Patrick. |

Plenty of negatives but also plenty of positives to take from it. Konecny scoring and the PP scoring. Still far too many individual fundamental breakdowns. Not by the rookies, but by the veterans. Great effort to come back and hopefully that can springboard something but no moral victories in the NHL. The one point they earned is real though. - MJL
I agree. Simmonds has been apart of the 3 on 3 since it was installed. I’m gonna overreact to that. I think the play looks worse than it was. |

Sanheim should definitely play in OT.

Agreed. My opinion on what would constitute a successful season is based on the team returning to some sort of even playing level with their special teams. Given this team, that may not happen. - Sublime55
They have enough hi end skilled vets.....any doofus that thinks this team isn’t expected to take a major step needs to wake up....you don’t spend 35 million on a 30 year old winger unless you expect to ‘contend” in the short term.
Trades are not easy....but they now have the assets to try and fix some of the issues. They also have the cap space and the ability to create more.

He’s a garbage goal scorer. He’s not a playmaker. Hence why Konecny and Voracek are out there. They are both fast and playmakers. And Konecny is a goal scorer off the rush. Something Simmonds, does not do. 3 on 3, Simmonds should not be on the ice. |

No it’s brutally mediocre. You are what your record says you are. 9-9-2 is not good, it’s borderline mediocre. |

I like the small change to the PP. Konecny adds a good shot to the PP. Put Voracek on the 2nd and let him do what Giroux does. Voracek is a passer.
The PK looked better at times but it really fell apart when guys like Giroux and Laughton who kill penalties were in the box. Is NAK killing penalties yet? Perhaps put him in that position and see what happens. |

Agreed. I don't like him out there 3 on 3. The game is played too fast and loose and that's not his game. |

A goal is a goal. Simmonds has been one of the Flyers better goal scorers for a long time. Simmonds belongs on the ice in OT.

Btw, your boy AMAC was great today. Glad he’s back in the top four. I’d say you’d get fired if you were making the roster decisions, but the Flyers don’t have the stones.
Funny thing, Lavy was fired for less. |

Continued fundamental individual errors. Scott Laughton with the most egregious error.

It depends on BOTH of our definitions doesn't it?. And then you will say, NOT US, but the board in general?
