That is NOT the sign of someone who deserves this job.

I get it, your guy, learn and adapt or die.

I LOVE Hexy for who he was, I am ready to move on unless something DRASTIC happens.

What would that be to all of You?

WHAT IS AN ACCEPTABLE, POSITIVE ENDING TO THIS SEASON????

You do realize how long it takes for a GM to have an impact on a team, right? Hextall's guys are just now coming up. There is no way a new GM will have an impact on this team right away. It takes years.

The change, imho, has to come at the PK and PP coaching level. Get those working right and a lot of good things come with them.

Outshoot them 45-26... Still lose 6-5

Tough to swallow especially since we have so many high danger chances

This is why we can't have nice things...

Simmonds plays like poop then scores game tying goal then chokes like a mofo.

- Glak18

Isn't trading him now better than nothing?

Or deadline if you think he can improve hisself/value?

my god. Shut it off at 5 1 and see it's going to ot. Turn it back and they've already lost haha. What a fun mess this team is.

Drafting is only one part of it. He has control of the NHL roster and cap as well. GM's don't get free passes for half a decade.

This has to happen now.

This team is a quarter through the season and you could argue that they are behind where they were at the end of last year.

Sure, but there are only so many trades that can be made.

5v5 this team is pretty good, really. The special teams are killing them. Major player changes aren't necessary, imho. A smaller move may shake up the team a little but until they start executing well on special teams it doesn't matter.

Why is Simmonds even on the ice in OT?
- hereticpride

Konecny and G had first shift, Giroux doubleshifted with Voracek. Simmonds went on at some point and yea not. Probably would have sent out Laughton instead of Simmonds. Maybe Lindblom too,

Still lost and he’s going to get to keep his job. Yay! Still terrible on special teams, still can’t play defense, still streaky, and still haven’t had anything resembling goaltending since Reese left.

I want 2 rounds of playoffs BUT if he did not know that from his superiors that is not fair to him now.
- DrMidnite

They need to make a run and win a couple of rounds at least. There’s too much talent in their front 6 to not do this. Another first round exit would and should be the end of Hak if they even make the playoffs.

Horrible line change by Simmonds as well....got lucky but then really played his man soft....lost in todays game ....Pickard couldn’t come up with any big save. Goaltending was bad...

If the PK isn’t addressed they won’t make the playoffs.

I dont think so. The comeback made it much easier to swallow. I think it def would have been worse if they lose 5-1 outshooting them like that. The offense is waking up. That is what we want to see.

Replay makes it look worse. Why is simmonds checking him from outside?
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Have you ever tried to cover a guy on skates? How is Simmonds suppose to get on the inside while on his back? Simmonds looks drifting off on a replay looks bad but I’m not sure what Simmonds could have done outside of slashing, hooking or tackling him. It was a nice shot.

I can’t remember who the pairs were but Couturier, Konecny, Giroux, Voracek and JvR all have to our ahead of Simmonds.

Wayne would not be a guy that I would play in the 3 on 3 ever. Not fast, not super skilled, and not defensively responsible anymore.

I’d roll with G, Jake, Coots, TK, Laughton and Patrick. But hey, Simmonds scored an OT winner once so what do I know?

Agreed. My opinion on what would constitute a successful season is based on the team returning to some sort of even playing level with their special teams. Given this team, that may not happen.

As it has been for 90% of the games. There is nothing he could do on that last goal, but he did NOTHING to inspire any confidence in the goaltending in that game.

Agreed. There are a bunch of forwards who should be out there before him. Hell, I'd even get Sanhiem out there in a forward spot before him.

Plenty of negatives but also plenty of positives to take from it. Konecny scoring and the PP scoring. Still far too many individual fundamental breakdowns. Not by the rookies, but by the veterans. Great effort to come back and hopefully that can springboard something but no moral victories in the NHL. The one point they earned is real though.
