Just sayin.

None of this is up to any of us but it's just a discussion.

Or maybe some of us want to see the Leafs actually win instead of being pretenders and would like them to fix the defense so they can compete with Tampa Bay and win a Cup. Possibly, if done correctly, multiple Cups.

- Unholy_Goalie

A win tonight (likely) puts the Leafs #1 overall - ahead of Tampa. Sure, perhaps only until tomorrow, but that sure sounds like competition to me.

You just like to female dog and take the contrary position, and it's tiring.

Seems to me if you weren't so ridiculous then people wouldn't feel the need to.

No I’d say Marner as the main piece. That’s just me though.
- KINGS67

Can't do Marner. Local boy has to stay put.

Nylander
Liljegren
Bracco
Kapanen

So........ no thanks

- mr.sir

Swap Kapanen for Brown and I'd do it no problem. Even throw in a 1st if needed.

The Leafs have 1 more win than they did last year. If they lose tonight, they have the same record as they did last year.

It's 20 games. Nobody wins (frank) all after 20 games. If you want to pretend being 1st place matters after 20 games, go ahead but I'm thinking long term, specifically the playoffs, when the games get harder, rougher and tougher. Last year, it didn't go well.

If the kings were to trade Doughty, asking for Marner is a good start. But yeah, we'd have to pass on that one.

Do you think the Kings can rebuild even by keeping Kopitar, Doughty and Quick? I mean, the Leafs use to do that kind of "rebuild" (with worse players mind you) and it never worked because they were always finishing in 9th or 10th place. They were always half pregnant instead of blowing the doors off the place and tanking it which they finally were forced to do, almost by accident. Because of that, they ended up with Marner, Matthews, Rielly, Nylander, Kadri etc.

Wouldn't it be more advantageous to trade Kopitar, Doughty and Quick for players under 25, a bunch of prospects and draft picks, suffer for a couple years, win a draft lottery or two and start from ground zero?

So, trade Doughty for someone that might turn into Doughty?

Yes, I realize it's a long season, but it's been a great start. A win tonight means that they are one game better than last season - an improvement. Small, yes, but still an improvement.

Plus they have 62 games left to improve more.

The kids are also a year older and more mature than they were last year. Relax, it's going to be fine - there's no need to poop all over everything like you do or make any stupid moves like you continuously suggest.

That's what rebuilding is. Getting younger, starting from scratch, cheaper players etc.

Or, keep going with those guys, keep finishing in 9th and 10th for 10 more years like the Leafs did from 2005-2015.
