Good article in the Athletic today about buying out Lucic. It provides no real cap relief. If they buy him out, here are his cap hits:
2019-20: $3,625,000
2020-21: $5,625,000
2021-22: $4,125,000
2022-23: $5,625,000
2023-27: $625,000
That's a giant ouchie. - Atomic Wedgie
Yup. Signing bonus heavy contracts like the ones clarkson and eriksson signed |

He returned, but doesn't mean he's 100% - burn
He came back...but left again late in the game....didn't think he came back the second time...maybe I wasn't paying full attention. |

Two reasons:
- Americans lime their sporting events during the day
- NBC wants a game of the week on Saturday afternoons.
When I lived in Boston, I enjoyed going to Saturday afternoon games. Run errands in the morning, go to the game, come home and nap, go out on Saturday night. - Atomic Wedgie
This response is better than my, "because" answer. |

Yes. I wouldn't turn it down if that's all there was...but I would never buy Corona for my beer fridge. |

No way of knowing - everyone else is better, who's to say Willy hasn't stepped up his game...not that we'll ever know. - Woderwick
That would be better, 18 would have set in on pace for 72pts.
But youre right, we'll never know. Stoopid willie. |

Did you see that delayed offside in the second period?
Don't be fooled by the record, Faksie.
If this team is going to keep giving up a delayed offside or two a game, no way we win a playoff series. - Atomic Wedgie

Stoopid...stoopid Willy. The good of it...we got to see Kaps potential...so thanks for that Wil I Am.
Maybe Willy's doing this on purpose to expose the talents of his buddy.
Selfless - I love Willy again, now. |

You can see from the scores of last nights games - starting to level out already.
And you're right, 72 points would be pretty fantastic.
The 2 power play units they could put out with Willy there, and the 3 man units they could put out in OT. Depth changes dramatically with the pretty boy. |

Matthews-Tavares-Kadri
Rielly-Marner
Marleau-Nylander-Johnson
Gardiner-Lievo
That 2nd PP would be as good as some teams firsts

Ennis creates scoring chances somehow his moves are a little unorthodox but they work.
This PP would break records |

If we could get that out of Gardiner on a consistent basis he'd be with Rielly in the Norris talks. Great game from him last night. Actually saw him toss a couple guys around. That's how we need him to play! |

Go Leafs.
Beauty team.
There will be a shortage of kleenex around the tool residence when Matthews and Nylander join the team. |

Gards and Zaitsev are getting heavier match-up/DZ duty as Babcock is easing Hainsey's load and freeing Rielly up to exploit softer match-ups.
Gards has been much more effective defensively this year: much more focused, less risk-taking, but that also means he's not scoring as much.
I like this Gardiner better, but I've always liked Gardiner; he's always been better than people think. |

I don't know how much PP time he'll get if he's not getting it now. The PP is not where his gamebreaking speed can really be a difference maker, but on the PK, it's perfect.
I'm happy with him on the PK if he's going to get a lot of minutes 5v5 too. |

He has 12 mins of PP time in the past 3 games....
Safe to say Babs is starting to use him on there. |

Yeah, it looks like they've been working on simplifying his game - I suppose he felt before like he needed to do too much.
This is also a great example of how good players can improve over the course of the season. The coaching staff exists for a reason, and Gardiner is clearly willing to listen and work with them. |

I agree.
I’ll take him but only on a discounted contract.
Hopefully with him being on this team for his whole career he will want to win here.
He can match a Shattenkirk contract. 4-5x6.5. He could get 7x6.
