I don’t see anything in Kampfs game that tells me he should be an NHL center. His is ok on D. Zero offensive skill. Skating is maybe above average. Brings nothing physically. Same with Johnson. I liked Kahuns game. He’s tenacious on the puck and has quick edges/shifty. I think a solid 3rd line guy.

At least Kruger can cycle the puck. Kampf has less offense. I like the top 6 as is.

Can Kahun play center? Maybe between Sikura and Fortin or Ejdsell?

- bhawks2241

If and when the Hawks have depth at forward, then there really is no reason for Kruger, Kampf, and Johnson to all be in the lineup at the same time unless one is center and the others are the wings on the 4th line. Given their skill sets, just one should be in the lineup to be 4C.

Ideally I would like to see Sikura on line 3 centered by Anisimov, Schmaltz, or Kahun. Fortin as the other winger but only if he can show more than just speed that largely has been unproductive.

If not Fortin, then a power forward not named Hayden or Martinsen. They should slot as 4th line wingers. Maybe Ejdsell as Justin suggests? Big but not a power forward, though. At least not yet.

Or have Anisimov provide the size as center with Sikura and Kahun as wingers which leaves an opening in the top 6.

1) What have you liked so far about Jeremy Colliton?

He seems very poised and mature for a guy who's 33 with one of the Original Six Franchises and the spotlight firmly on him. Seems like the guys old and new can relate to him and vice versa and they're willing to work together to get this team where we all want it to be. Feel like having him behind the bench will allow for a lot of the young kids to grow now

2) What are you concerned about with this team overall?

Depth scoring. Like the lines we've rolled out the past few games but we need consistency from anyone outside of Kane, Cat, and Toews. After that it's been a crapshoot as to who can/will show up any given night. I feel like the defense will sort itself out in order here and will improve as the guys play more together and build chemistry.

3) What would you do if you were Stan Bowman to improve this team for the future?

Depends on how the team plays over the next month and a half.

If they play well, I would like to see him go out and acquire a legit scorer to go with Kane, Cat, and Toews and the secondary guys in Saad, AA, and Schmaltz. Someone on a decent contract. I've suggested Tyler Toffoli. As long as they aren't overpaying for someone or taking on a deal that could hurt us down the road. If it's not there then I would like to see them sign an impact forward in FA. Also would like to see Dylan Sikura get called up soon as he's been play very well in Rockford and could slot somewhere in this lineup to improve our offensive depth.

If they slide down or are stuck in the middle, I would look to trade one or both of AA or Murphy to free up more cap space for Free Agency. Also, would call around to see if someone would be interested in taking Kunitz or Cam as a veteran for the Playoff run (depending on where THEY would like to go with their NTC.). Then give more of the kids in Rockford a chance to build confidence for next year.

I'd look to move out saad , Anisomov, Seabrook, Keith, schmaltz Gustafson and rutta , along with Crawford.

I'd look to acquire skinner, panarin, Nylander and some bottom 6 defensive minded guys, I'd bring up boquisvt, beaudin , hillman, Delia.

Moving out that much money will allow this team to pay those guys the salaries and still have cap space available.

Nylander can center Kane and PANARIN

Skinner debrincant and toews would be more productive,

Then you have a young backend

Or - maybe - JC is - on his own dime - trying things to figure out what works and what doesn’t.

Too many dark conspiracy theories - sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

- StLBravesFan

I didn't want the Blackhawks to fire Q but they did. As a fan, I hope JC figures out how to get the most from this team. Four points out of the last three games isn't much, but it is something. I appreciate that he is bringing in some new ideas and experimenting.

The hard truth is that this roster is not playoff-caliber. That's not on this coach or the former coach, that's on the GM and President for thinking it is and not doing enough to improve it.

The sooner they figure out a direction, the better.

Zero reason/excuse for Kruger to be on the team. Or in the NHL.
- BMWChiFan

Kruger is another guy that can/should get moved at the TDL for a team wanting faceoff/C depth

And hes much better than Kampf...which should tell you how good Kampf is, if you think Marcus doesnt belong in the NHL

Agree was wondering where nylander came from and what the hawks gave up. Plus can we stop with the Panarin coming back its not happening. Need that money for other areas to fill. Bottom 6 scoring more players that play with an edge and win one on one battles top 6 forward center or wing top 4 dman but lets see how the d is with murphy in there first. Just my 2 cents

Not being snarky but just curious: what would each trade and signing be to acquire Skinner, Panarin, Nylander, and bottom 6 players?

The Hawks would have to give up quite a bit so who remains on the current Hawks roster after these transactions?

That would help envision how the lines would play out once the dust settles with who exactly is on the roster, in Rockford, and in the prospect pipeline.

This is a pretty good post, I kind of wonder about the same thing when it comes to Kampf, I would like to see a little more of Johnson , I was at the game last night and I was thinking the same thing about Dominic Kahun,Can he play center?

I tried getting my dad to watch GOT, and he got through season 1. Every time he saw Peter Bailish, he called him Peter Bailey from Bailey Savings and Loans. I like that movie, but it drives me nuts!

Hard to believe that the Kings, Hawks and Penguins top the Tankathon list after tonight's games.
How many Stanley Cups between them in the past 10 years?

Wild lost to Buffalo 3-2, who are also a good team. I never would have predicted that. What are the chances the Wild lose back-to-back games? We've only played them once so far, and it was an otl. Can the hawks find their footing with these new lines when Minny took a loss?

It looks like they have something going where the Lake Erie snow never stops.

But - six straight years of top-10 picks - including two #2s - they haven’t made the playoffs in 7 years.

Same with Edmonton (only worse) - 10 top-10 picks in 12 years - including four #1s - only made the tournament once in 12 years - and on the outside looking in so far this year.

Tanking is not all it’s supposed to be, apparently. Some pretty good players picked by both teams.

Perhaps you still need some coaching and a front office that can fill in and create a winning atmosphere.

I watched that Flames/Oilers game last night (late). I thought I was back in the 70's for a while.
I do not think that there is another team in the NHL today worse than the Oilers in accepting a legal check without brawling. Good on them that the Flames came back and beat them in regulation time.

Yeah, totally agree.
Buf has 2 first rounds this year, 1 from EK trade. Buf's own first, higher mids I guess, Sharks, probably high. Next year they have 2 firsts. Their own, if they stay like this, high mids again, and from the ROR trade, if blues stay like this, pretty early pick.

Ballerinas and the pretty boys were not invited to play in that game. There will be a warning to those teams from the Commissioners office advising of their disapproval of rough play in Canada.

If we eat half of his salary (which Rocky can afford) Kruger definitely will have value at the TDL for teams looking for playoff experience down the middle. Hopefully Kruger stays healthy until then.
