Just like the PK’s issues aren’t in large part due to the POS passive box. Delusional homerism. - flyer_nutter
The Flyers killed penalties well tonight. They pressured the puck situationally like they should. Sealed off passing lanes and cleared the puck when given the chance. Did they play a different system tonight on the PK? No, the players executed. The difference between me and you is that I know it's a player issue and not a coaching issue. Coaches normally pay the price for that as it's a results oriented business. It's the same song from you, over and over. Never placing any culpability on the players.

Idk where the blame falls for the power play. It makes no sense imo when you have the players that we have on the top unit. JVR gets a little break / slack tonight (imo) being his 1st game back. - arichardson22
With the PP, I mean that non goal probably should've counted and they had some posts. I just think their PP is so damn predictable. Take G and Ghost's shots away and they other guys more often than not aren't going to beat you. |

I dont think they are any more or less focused on point shots then any other team. 5
What I think this group is missing is any physical play at all in anyway. You dont need a Rinaldo out there, would take that in some ways, but if Hagg is the most physical player you have then thats not going to work. - opeth_pa
Plenty of players who can play with an edge. Hagg, Simmonds, Gudas, Laughton, Konecny just to start.
They have been instructed to play this way for 264. Love you opeth, but in my eyes this is what they are instructed to do. |

In my opinion the Flyers need a shakeup bad. Simmonds used to be a player who won board battles and was a spark physically for this team. Aside from scoring garbage goals on the PP what has Simmonds really done this season. If they aren't going to fire Hak why not trade him and spark the team with that. |

From the last thread:
he issue I had was that they needed a 2nd legit NHL goalie. Gonna be a blast rolling with Pickard/Lyon/Neuvirth’s corpse
Other serious issues:
This team has less balls than a eunuch. They are as soft as melted butter.
3C is a gaping hole
The D needs a quality veteran to take the reins.
The forward corps needs more size and a legit shoot first sniper.
Patience is well and good, but if they miss the playoffs this year, it will be the 4th time in the last 7 seasons. Hak will be gone and Hextall will be on thin ice. Drafting well is great, but this is a results oriented business and at some point you need to put s team on the ice that wins.

Hate to say it but I have just about zero interest in bringing Simmonds back. He should really be dealt by deadline, if not sooner. This team needs help moving forward however they can get it and I just don't see signing him long term with a big cap hit helping this team at all. |

Keep drinking the kool aid buddy, Flyers are looking for the low to high play more often than not since Hakstol has been the coach. Watch any great team in this league and tell me if they use this system or play in the slot or behind the net instead. - FreshFlyer
No team in the league, including the Flyers base their offensive strategy or system around low percentage point shots. The Flyers like every team use the points when a team plays a tight box collapse around their net. The Flyers generated 16 high danger chances in the game to the Devils 7. None of your kool aid comments can change the facts.

While I dont think Hak has said dont play with an edge something has happened that seems to have reduced the aggression.
This team plays soft and while those players can play with an edge they only seem to do it in a reactionary way. Maybe they have had it drilled into them by Hak and\or Hexy dont take needless penalties because we can't kill them.
I dunno but it's like watching oatmeal out there. |

Other than Giroux and Ghost, who are the skill players on this team? |

Voracek and Patrick bring some skill. Konecny usually does but he hasn't been playing that well so far this season. Other than that its hard to tell you. |

That is a ridiculous question when you had two other players not named Giroux with over 75 points last season. |

Quite a few would be solid skilled contributors on other clubs.
Konecny, JVR, Prov, Patrick, Sanheim, Coots and Voracek.
Hell you can throw Lind in there maybe with Laughton who does have some skill. The talent is there imo. |

They need more skill, no doubt. However they also need some players who play the game with some aggression. They are so friggin soft. |

Lol at the broadcast crew calling him out.
“One goal in the last two games. Like the way we played”.

I was frustrated with the loss, now I think I am more frustrated with the fact the coach and players feel they played good hockey. At least we know what to expect if they are content with their play. |

I don't see the issue as the Flyers are soft. I see the issue as they didn't score a goal and again, they had a drop off in their play in the second period. Needs to be more of a push consistently. |

Here’s just my take.
I think under Berube there started to be a real focus on reducing penalties and not being a team that continuously was near the top for penalty minutes taken. I think that pendulum swung too far to go along with “take what they give you”. We’ve heard Hak say phrases similar to this for his whole tenure. They don’t initiate enough, nor attack imo. It’s far too reactionary.
I don’t buy that they assembled the softest group the NHL has seen in years. There are guys here who can play with more edge and intensity. |

That stuff doesn't bother me. That's what this team does. They put on the happy face for the media and keep things internal. I think the story is quite different behind closed doors. Just a feeling on that.

Brayden Point scores more in a minute and a half than the Flyers did in the last 120+ minutes... |

The Kings are a mess. I'd kick the tires on a deal involving Jake and Kopitar. See what it takes. |

Berube coached in 13/14 where there were 5 players on the team who played tonight. In 14/15 there were 6. Nothing to do with what started under Berube. |

Can Hughes slot into 3C? - Glak18
Hak would only give him 3:53 of ice time then bench him for Lehtera. |
