You are watching a hockey game THAT is entertainment. No team in the NHL plays a full 60 minutes. If they did there would be less parity. There are lapses where teams are sluggish, the fans chant "Let's go(Insert team name here), that inserts some life back into a team that looks lifeless and they start putting on pressure. Why do you think players fight to spark the team. It is the exact same thing. A hockey game is more than just cheering for your team, its watching all the great players in the league play.
The Flyers sucked in 2006-07 but I got to watch Peter Forsberg play, I got to see Brodeur, Elias, Parise. Flyers lost both those games but it was still entertaining to watch. The game VS Isles was a 5-2 loss and it wasnt any less entertaining. You are just a crybaby like most comment board here. The team loses a couple games so you take your ball and you go home, who cares that they recently just won 6 straight, only the two losses matter - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Those 6 games with points (there was a loss in there that went at least to overtime) were all #fakepoints
How many more try harder speeches do you think he needs to hear from his coach? - johndewar
Lets not pretend that the try harder speeches are what is being done. That is what they tell the media. I can guarantee you the message in the locker room is much different and much harsher. Its the same with all companies. In all press conferences they try to make things seem like nothing is wrong and put a positive spin on everything. Hakstol is not throwing anyone under the bus publicly, I am sure Hextall probably had a word with him about the comments about Misha earlier this year. Those arent the type of things you should say. There are players to be called out but they will be done so behind closed doors.

Drink that Kool-aid, It ain't for me.
Call me all the names you want, that doesn't change the fact that this team is milk toast.
So boring, so vanilla.
I will never pay someone just to go and cheer them on. I want to be entertained not go to entertain.

That isnt exactly what we are arguing. It is one thing to not want to go when you pay for tickets. You got offered them for FREE and said you didnt even think about it.

If that goal counts its a 1-1 game. NJ doesnt score another goal until Elliott gets hurt. Two major factors that were all just bad luck - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Oh, so the final becomes 3-1. Gotcha. Major factor.

At what point do you consider giving Steve Mason a call with all of these goalie injuries? I think a 1 year deal could do Mason and the Flyers both good. Idk how he compares to Elliott but he’s the better option over Neuvirth, Pickard and Lyon.
I am a STH and attended many, many of those 2006-2007 games.
The only entertainment to be had, until the team made a couple of deals (Upshall, Coburn, Biron, etc), was a dancing fat guy up in the upper bowl of the arena.
Most Flyers fans will cheer, yell, woo, whatever when the team gives them something to cheer, yell, woo about. It's a symbiotic circle and frankly, as a paying customer, it ain't on me to get them going.
By the way, the Dancing Fat Guy has lost a bunch of weight and has gone on to a gig with the Flyers. He's like our own Jonah Hill.
So, maybe, just maybe, there's hope for this team yet.
But right now, they are inconsistent, they play poorly at home, and have been kind of boring and really haven't done all that much to deserve reverberated energy from the home crowd because they've generated so little of it themselves. - johndewar
It was so anti Hak it stuck out to me - dragonoffrost
Would have made me pause too...
From the time this guy was hired, I remember reading that he did not swear (can anyone confirm this?)and thought then that can't be good for pro ranks.

Mason is third all time in wins for Goaltenders in Flyers history. He's 30 years old and out of the NHL. What does that tell you?

Just because the tickets are free doesn't make it a free evening and turning one down doesn't make him less of a fan than you are.

There is almost no way Mason comes back here. That bridge was torched.

No because you missed the point completely. You are seeing what you want to see. Flyers had 2 counts of bad luck. The goal that was called off and the Elliot injury.
If Elliot doesnt get hurt, they dont score that 2nd goal.
Without that 2nd goal they dont get an empty netter.
