Im in favour of giving Lyon the reigns the next couple week. Give him a shot and fully understand what you have in him. |

We hope.
I’m not trying to be snarky, I’m just really hoping this doesn’t turn into a recurring problem. Unless they make a deal for another goalie, a healthy Elliott playing the bulk of the games remaining is a must

Fine with me. Pickard is an NHL/AHL tweener at best and Neuvirth is as durable as wet toilet paper |

I am sorry to say but I feel this is going to be a year long thing. He is coming off core muscle surgery this year isn't he? Guys get older and these recurring nicks seem to come more frequently. |

WRONG!
They want to play where they get paid.
Yes, lets blame the fans. I will NEVER understand this line of thinking. If it was all about the fans then cut the prices on tickets and concessions and merchandise.
It is all about the $$$. Stop fooling yourself into thinking it is about anything else. - ggunky
To further my point Tavares was the perfect example. San Jose and New York Offered JT more money than Toronto did YET he chose to play there over those two place. |

There was an expectation to be better but that was overly optimistic. His vision did not entail JVR getting hurt in game 2, his young players struggling to find consistency, PP to decline, to have so many goaltending injuries at once. Hextall needs to let Lyon and Stolarz have a shot at the crease. Lyon has done everything to earn a look. Stolarz played a bit last season and did well with the team. They cant be worse than pickard. I really dont understand the fear here. The goaltending is a horror show. Letting these guys play cant hurt the team any more than they are hurting now.
Even the PK, he said he wanted to improve but I believe he said something along the lines that it needed to be done from within. Which means he is holding the coaching staff responsible for the PK and it has looked better lately than the beginning of the season. It is too early to judge it, it can continue to improve over the course of the season. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
at this point I don't see how they don't run with what they have in net. Why are these two still here if they aren't capable or at least have the potential to be. Everyone knows what Plan "A" is, so I think that's probably what they try.
As far as fixing the PK from with in....how long does this go on for? 'Im sure Hextall was genuine on his comment but at this point its more wishful thinking that the players need to a better job and that's the real problem. Patience leading to victory is awarded...patience leading to nowhere gets people fired.

Tavares chose Toronto because he wanted to play at home. He's an outlier. 99% of the time it's about money and the chance to win |

If Ovechkin can be made accountable I don’t understand why Jake can’t. Defensive play just takes effort. That’s all. It’s an indictment on the coaching - Just5

I would think soon depending on if there is no improvement. They allowed 1 PP goal VS FLA but did not let one in VS NJ. TB game is going to have PP goals for sure. Luckily Dominigue hasnt been that great so tomorrows game will be down to the last shot on net most likely. |

Didnt see the game last night. Was the PP bad enough to warrant further changes or did they generate chances? Switching coots to pp2 benefits both units.

I can’t say anything I haven’t already said. Hakstol got good just in time to save his job. Now our team is bad again...
I’m not gonna get upset after the disallowed goal. It could have went either way abs it didn’t make or break us. Personally, I agree with the call, no matter how inconsistent the other calls have been.
I personally know what changes I would like to see but I’ve lost hope they’ll ever happen. |

If that goal counts its a 1-1 game. NJ doesnt score another goal until Elliott gets hurt. Two major factors that were all just bad luck |

And thats why fans like you are part of the problem. You arent a real hockey fan if you dont entertain the offer of free tickets to your favourite team. I dont care if this is a last place tanking team. I would take free tickets to a game 99% of the time. I went to two NHL games in 06-07 when the Flyers were a pile of poop and finished in dead last. I travelled from Hamilton which is 45 mins from Toronto all the way to Philly, to see them play the Isles and then to NJ to watch them play the Devils 2 days later.
I can understand being busy but dont sit there and say I wont support my team because they arent playing at a level worth my support. People like you are why the arena lacks energy. Flyers arent playing well? BE LOUD! Cheer them on to to energize them. That used to be the norm back when Laviolette coached. Team would have awful lapses and the fans would get them energized again. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
To continue a thought I am having:
I go to a game, a play, a concert to be entertained. When I am entertained I reciprocate that emotion back, in applause, cheering, standing up, re-verbing back the energy that is being shown to me.
I don't go to a game, a play, a concert to cheer on the entertainment and to provide them with a spark or energy or whatever.
If the entertainment I am paying to see, requires me to be energy for them to play well, well then they should find another profession.

Ok and I don't see him getting much more than what he got in Arizona anywhere else if he waited for his contract to expire and test the market. |
