Another wasted season with an incompetent coaching staff. Yawn.

Everyone excited for the carnival?

- Feanor

Quenneville is available right now. It's going to be great watching the Flyers hang on to this bum, while Q gets picked up by another team.

Slow starts to seasons: Been happening for years

Slow starts to games: Been happening for years

Not showing any emotion or sense of urgency until trailing in the 3rd: Been happening for years.

The above is not on Ron Hextall or the coaches, it's squarely on the players, and mostly on the leadership group consisting of Giroux, Voracek, and Simmonds. It's time to deal one of the 3 and Simmonds is the logical one to go.

- BiggE

Trading core forward Brayden Schenn really fixed the slow starts and lack of emotion.

No wait, it did nothing of the sort, because those traits come from the coaching staff, not the players. The starts are objectively MUCH slower under Hakstol than under Berube, despite the roster being better.

The team that beat us last night had which of those?
- dragonoffrost

It was one game and they won by luck........ What part of that dont you understand. If they played again today the result would be different.

Penguins have been losing, they just made a total panic trade giving up that monster Carl Hagelin for Tanner Pearson. They got taking to the cleaners. Robbed blind. That is what losing Organizations do.
- PLindbergh31

That trade is a wash. Pearson wont do any better than Hagelin did. Its not a lose, it is just irrelevant

Flyers shouldnt make any rash moves. Dont make a trade just to make a trade. That is how EDM ended up giving Hall for Larsson. The only moves I would make right now are trading Simmonds and Voracek. Simmonds because I want to improve the team and I dont feel he is a solution. Voracek I would move only if I am able to make a trade for Nylander. Voracek could be used to replace the pieces lost getting Nylander or maybe even used to get the pieces for Nylander.

Toronto would not want Voracek back so picks and a young Dman would be a good return which would allow us to send a Dman(+) to TOR as well as freeing up that 8 mill of cap space needed

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Edmonton has been looking for a winger to pair with Draistal. Voracek could look attractive there.

To Philadelphia: Nugent-Hopkins, Puljujärvi, Khaira

To Edmonton: Voracek, Gudas, Weal, 3rd rounder

Far off? Not enough on Flyers end?

Does it hurt the Flyers too much? Nugent Hopkins would upgrade your 3c and pk.

Just trying to see what people think. In my mind I think moving one of Simmonds or Voracek could be the move and not necessarily hurt the team depending on return

Nonsense trade ideas to prop up a coaching staff that has clearly failed.

This is exactly what I was getting at last night. They knew that Elliott and Neuvy were not a good tandem together and went into this season with them anyway. It's ridiculous.
- hereticpride

Why wouldn't the plan be to bring up Alex Lyon when injuries inevitably struck? They did that last season and he did alright in a small sample, and he's almost 26 years old so time's running out to see if he has an NHL future. The whole reason to you sign a guy like that out of college is to add depth. Then if you need to use it, you can use it.

I'd do that. Khaira likely won't match what he did last year production-wise, but he'd be a fan favorite and is still relatively young. RNH offers a good upgrade on 3C and on the PK. Jake's got top-end playmaking skills, but when the offense runs dry, he's a black hole.

I'm not holding my breath on Hextall…..has he ever made an in season trade of significance? to help with injuries or poor play ? The patch work on goaltending just hasn't worked. The Flyers have some ultra talented players...But they are simply an average team. something just is not right with this group, be it the coach....the GM or the players. I really don't know, but have been around the game long enough to know mediocrity when I see it.

And Puljujärvi would be a wild card as he seems to have soured a little in Edmonton but maybe a change and he becomes that top end player here.

I could see Bob Clarke making that deal....Ron "trader" Hextall? not a (frank)ing chance.

He's got all the tools, just hasn't put it all together. At least not yet.

Although, put a guy like Jake on a line with McDavid, and we'll never hear then of "Flyers trade top-10 scorer Jake Voracek, terrible trade."

Is it really on the coach? not sure. Is it time for a different message? maybe. Would Hextall even want a guy like him ? or would he want to come and coach this group with the ways its currently constructed? Doesn't seem like a Hextall move....now if Hextall could trade Hak for a first round pick....(for the future) then you might be onto something...

btw, merrick madsen is tearing it up so far in the AHL. remains to be seen what will become of him. i'll just say i was not happy when the flyers did not sign him.
- hammarby31

You mean you were not happy when Madsen chose not to sign with a team that already had Lyon, Stolarz, Sandstrom, and Hart as goalie prospects.

Nah, why hire a proven winner, when guys like Hakstol, Berube and the like are available by the bushel.

He probably would. But my goal is to make the Flyers better. If I add Nugent-Hopkins and it gets my pk better and now I have 3 pretty solid centers, I think I match up better.

How did Extreme, the same band famous for "More Than Words" also write the song "Play With Me" within a 3-year span? Quite the opposite songs.

There isnt much leadership tbh. How many Vets are actually on the team now? Giroux, Voracek, AMac, Gudas, Lehtera, Weise, JVR Raffl. This team is getting young fast. Not many of these guys strike me as leaders. One of the strengths the old Flyers had was the surplus of leadership. Guys like Kimo, Briere, Pronger, Richards, Giroux ect

Problem is I think we are getting young too quick. A lot of our young guys are still learning to be pros and finding consitancy in their game. To me that is fine with the 3rd line but you need guys on the top 2 lines that will be consistand day in and day out. We arent getting that because I think our young guys are being rushed.

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

I disagree that Patrick, Konecny, Linblom, Sanheim and Hagg are being rushed.

It's complete drama and overreaction. That's what I'm tired of.
