Jordan Weal is the softest player in the NHL. And arguably the easiest player to knock off the puck in the NHL.

5. Brian Elliott's strong start
Among 38 goaltenders to log 300+ minutes, Elliott ranks 9th – sandwiched between Henrik Lundqvist and John Gibson – with a .935 save percentage at 5v5. Elliott also sits 8th in Goals Saved Above Average and 6th in high-danger save percentage. He's off to a strong start and isn't nearly as bad as many would have you believe.
So what's bad about the goalie? |

I think Hak showed last game he is not against playing Laughton at C. I do think we’ll see him centering JvR and Simmonds soon.
Psyched to get JvR back. He could be a boost to their flailing PP.
Last game showed the value of Voracek. When Florida was clogging things up playing the tight 1-2-2, he was the only Flyer having success in carrying the puck into the offensive zone. His line with NO and Oskar generated the best scoring chances. Btw, Lindblom has really been growing on me, I like his game. - Marc D

Options are thin man, what would you like to happen? Misha isn't ready. Lehtera is slow. Laughton is playing well on the wing. You are just complaining. - ClaudeFather
In other words you can't refute what I'm stating and realize it's correct. |

The point is for all the female doging about Flyers goaltending. Dear god, there is a lot. Elliott has been playing well. But go ahead and be snarky. |

You see what Weal does as a positive. I see it as a negative. He dangles with the puck on the perimeter and doesn't make plays. - MJL
i actually agree, all I was saying is he gets there and does get possession, his line seems to spend more time in the O than the D zone, which is good. Weal as an NHL player must put points up, he does that and we talk less about needing a 3C. Jury is still out for sure. |

But how long can Hak be patient about waiting to see Weal progress and get points? |

Not his fault they're shorthanded so often and can't kill a penalty! Too easy to blame it on the goalie |

Eliott is fine, but they need another solid goalie to go with him unless you think he’s going to morph into Brodeur and play every game left in the schedule |

It could be way worse, the Flyers starter could be sub 90% save percentage...that is unacceptable. |

Listen, if you read any post I have made about Weal in the last couple weeks, you would know that I don’t think his debut at center is going well. I do think he is an NHL player. Looks mostly like a playmaking RW who would work with a defensive center. Obviously with the depth the Flyers have at RW and lack of a defensive 3C center this becomes a poor fit problem.
This doesn’t mean I won’t give him a fair shot at the gap on 3C. JVR is a different style player than Weise or Laughton. I’m keeping an open mind.
Edit: I guess you could say I’m being patient. - NC Flyers Fan
Fair shot? He has been our 3rd Center for majority of the year and he has 2 points more than Lehtera. How is that not a fair shot. If you arent getting the job done, you dont last. Your Boss isnt going to give you a full year to see if you do your job performance becomes acceptable. If it is unacceptable they get rid of you within a couple weeks. |
