How does Simmonds actually call himself an NHL player and take as long as he does to shoot the puck at that empty net. Flyers getting embarrassed at home once again.
I really hope Tampa lights us up on Saturday so something can finally change. Hakstol's back to the point system is garbage. Watch any single successful team in the NHL and you'll see they all play behind the net and in the slot, when the Flyers get to those areas they look for the point man though its laughable.

This post is absurdly ridiculous. Simmonds settled the puck and fired it hard into the center of the net. Kinkaid desperately lunged and got a stick on it. It just as easily could've gone into the net.
This claim that Hakstol has a back to the point system is ridiculous. It doesn't exist. The Flyers had quality chance after quality chance in the game. They didn't finish! Blame the players not the coach. They had how many PP's? If a team collapses around the net, the points are open. It's fundamental hockey and every team does the same thing in that situation. Need to watch more hockey.
Can everyone please admit now that goaltending isn't the #1 issue with this team...
Well obviously they need a goaltender now. - Glak18
The issue I had was that they needed a 2nd legit NHL goalie. Gonna be a blast rolling with Pickard/Lyon/Neuvirth’s corpse
Other serious issues:
This team has less balls than a eunuch. They are as soft as melted butter.
3C is a gaping hole
The D needs a quality veteran to take the reins.
The forward corps needs more size and a legit shoot first sniper.
Patience is well and good, but if they miss the playoffs this year, it will be the 4th time in the last 7 seasons. Hak will be gone and Hextall will be on thin ice. Drafting well is great, but this is a results oriented business and at some point you need to put s team on the ice that wins.
edit: so forgot to mention the special teams because I want to forget the special teams. (frank)ing atrocious

Announcers are saying the goalie interference was a good call. Fine, now explain the other two goals allowed against the Flyers.
One was a player on the other team interfering with Elliotts stick and holding while holding up the defenseman's stick.....AND in the crease making contact.
The other one was a player IN the crease making contact with the goaltender prior to the shot with no defenseman pushing them.
So....contact inside crease is ok, contact outside crease bad?

They need a solid goaltender no question to make any noise in the playoffs, but I don't think they even make the playoffs if they don't fix the other issues first.

Here is the rule. Reading this tells me the goal should've counted.
Interference on the Goalkeeper - This rule is based on the premise that an attacking player's position, whether inside or outside the crease, should not, by itself, determine whether a goal should be allowed or disallowed. In other words, goals scored while attacking players are standing in the crease may, in appropriate circumstances be allowed. Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper's ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal; or (2) an attacking player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease. Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact. The rule will be enforced exclusively in accordance with the on-ice judgement of the Referee(s), and not by means of video replay or review.

First one:
Holding a defenseman's stick and holding up Elliott's stick doesn't impede the goalie from making a save?
That was some rotten luck all in the same game. Maybe it’s just me but it was like back when Hitch was behind the bench. The pairings and lines got the blender treatment. I don’t know if it was just a result of all the special teams including 4 on 4 or unfinished line changes or if Hak was trying to promote or demote guys. Hard to follow.
The 2 goals against Elliott were results of Flyer mistakes but the fact that the Flyers were shut out was pizz poor luck.

Weal should be scratched and Scotty should play 3c. Weal just pivots endlessly aeound the boards and throws a blind pass into the slot that's usually picked off and kills possession
