The grass out back is relatively soft, you may want to watch for gators though

Weal is not a good anything in the NHL right now. The only positive is he is doing well on faceoffs. Good things rarely happen when Weal has the puck.

I'm not one of those ppl who think he's an extended audition away from being the next MSL, but 'not a good at anything' is a pretty hot take too.

You know he's near the top for Flyers forwards in CF%, scoring chances for %, high-danger chances for %, etc, right? He's also comfortably above water in GF%.

Only reason he hasn't scored more points is that he (and his linemates) are shooting a paltry 7% at ES.

I'll take a guy on the 3rd-line who can win the possession battle consistently, even if he doesn't score more than 25-35 pts per year.

I'll certainly take him over Jori "Cement Sloth" Lehtera.

Why do you think the shooting percentage is low? It's pretty obvious why. Weal does not generate good chances. His line is sheltered. Any analysis using analytics has to take all of the factors into consideration. You failed to do that here. Give a player like Weal sheltered minutes and lower level competition and team stats are inflated. Winning possession is all well and good but not if it doesn't result in anything. His line has been on the ice for 6 GF and 5 GA. All they're doing is holding their own in sheltered minutes. Dale Weise is killing it in high danger chances! It's a badly flawed stat. I don't see Weal having a long NHL career and I'll be surprised if this isn't Weal's last season as a Flyers and perhaps in the NHL. Good AHL player though.

In a 4th line role, I'll take Lehtera over Weal.

Anybody with a pair of eyeballs has seen all the scoring chances Weise (and his line) has gotten over the past couple of weeks. Point blank chances, chances around the net mouth, etc. He doesn't bury them, but the chances have been there. The #'s just back up what we've all seen.

And Weal is 'sheltered', but you still have to win that matchup. Val Filp wasn't winning that matchup. Vinny wasn't winning that matchup. Weal is so far.

Fillpula wasn't sheltered and logged a lot of ice time against opposition top lines. Fillpula was a big reason the Flyers made the playoffs last season. You need to see the big picture rather than using a flawed analytics view point. Weal isn't winning anything, he's being carried. Use Weal the same way they used Fillpula and it wouldn't be pretty.

Let's compare Weal's analytics to Scott Laughton, who the consensus is saying is having a strong season. Laughton's at 44.52 CF% to Weal's 55.74%. Laughton's scoring chances for% is 46.21% to Weal's 54.43%. High danger scoring chances are Laughton 47.46% to Weal's 61.79%. Laughton's GF% is 53.33% to Weal's 54.43%. So who is the better player? I guess we'll see Weal extended any day now and Laughton perhaps moved? Everyone's eye test must be off kilter and Weal is actually the better player!

You know who is never around the net mouth? Jordan Weal. You can normally find him up high in the zone near the boards dangling or getting knocked off the puck. Anyone with a pair of eyeballs can see that.

Who's carrying Weal? Simmonds? Weise? Seriously? That line has defied the odds and is playing well, against middling competition. Will it last? Who knows. JVR is back, so we'll see.

Filp's QOC TOI and CF are very similar to what Weal is seeing now, BTW. And Filp was just as 'perimeter' as Weal, and just as spotty defensively. It's weird that you're on Team Filp, but Weal revolts you.

Let's compare Weal's analytics to Scott Laughton, who the consensus is saying is having a strong season. Laughton's at 44.52 CF% to Weal's 55.74%. You said so yourself, #'s in context. Laughton's most common linemate has been: Jori Lehtera.

I agree he's got more to offer, and I wish they'd get him in the top-9, but there's no reason to bump Weal down to do that right now.

Being high is kinda his role on that line, with Simmer and Weise down low. I know you know that.

Your Weal hate is kinda irrational.
