Lot of grief for Seebs today ,he did score the winning goal getting in position for a great shot and rebound on the PP !!.. That most likely would have been knocked in by either Shamaltz or Toews if not kicked in by blues defender .

I know his contract is a lot to swallow ,but to me at least Seebs try's to play within his abilities as what they are now . And the simpler game planning of JC can only help that . As for Keith he seems to try and do far to much and ends up in trouble ,He is a great talent no doubt ,just need to use the Kiss system ..

And to me TANK !! is a dirty four letter word at this time of the year

GO HAWKS !!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with you on Seabs. You know he will always give effort, he was never the fleetest of foot and relied on positioning. It's never a good thing when a player loses a step or two but Seabs' game was never predicated on speed.

Of course the contract and term is an abomination but we know Seabs will always come to play and probably has as much juice in the locker room as Go Johnny Go does. ...... He and Keith will have a lot to do with Joki, Boqvist, Beaudin and Mitchell's (9 points in 8 games this yr at NCAA Denver) development.

As much as people are praying that he gets traded at some point (I just don't see how we can swing that unless we catch an extremely desperate GM of a team that he'd be willing to waive to go to) that we best bet is to hope that those two can mentor the next waive and pass along the decade plus of knowledge that they have playing in big games AND how to maintain it as they get older.

I know, I was just screwing around. You're more of a straight-shooting kind of guy. I knew last night you were being sarcastic, because I know where you stand with Schmaltz. Being sarcastic isn't a thing most people pick up on, unless explicitly stated ... defeating the purpose.

Bingo, I'm the low man on the totem pole around here, for more reasons than 1, but I like what you bring here. I was in school, didn't get to say this earlier.

The kid has skill. I think we all agree he needs to wind up and let it fly. He has a great shot.
- z1990z

Schmaltz does have a plus shot. Quick release on his snapshot. ......... Unless I missed it am surprised it hasn't been mentioned how his game might develop under JC and a new assistant. JC may just get the best out of the kid, hopefully at wing.

He's getting off 1.4 SOG per game, 1.5 last yr in his 52 point yr. His deployment is about the same with 63% OZ starts as it was last yr. Corsi is 51+, same as last yr. His shot % is down from 17% last yr to 7.7 and is the reason despite deployment and SPG he's on a 36 point pace as compared to his 52 last yr.

I'm in the camp it's way to early to give up on the kid admitting it's horrible to watch him pass up so many shots.

Gotta look at what positives will come from Seabs and that contract. He's always played like and carried himself as a man and I have no doubt he will be very helpful in developing the young Dmen. ........ It ain't his fault StanBow dealt the Hawk cap a body blow with that idiotic contract.

Thanks everybody.

I don't mean to drag conversations back to Carolina talk, it's just that I can see the parallels between Schmaltz and TT and think the Hawks should be careful not to repeat their mistake.

- BINGO!

TT is playing with zero pressure in Carolina unlike here in The City of Big Shoulders. If Carolina ever gets deep into the playoffs we'll see what TT has developed into. .....

I'm still a huge fan of the kids explosive physical skills and was one of the last to give up on him here. Plenty of 55-60 point regular season guys and the concern is that's what TT is. Again when the going gets greasy in the playoffs we'll see what TT is but really his 60ish points in the regular season with zero pressure isn't any real meaningful measure.

Thank you! On another note...Eric Haula looks to have blown out his knee for Vegas and is now month to month. With Stasny out....Vegas is VERY thin at center. If anyone watched the Vegas game last night, they looked like last year's team and blew out the Ducks. McPhee has clearly gone "all-in" again this year trading a TOP prospect in Suzuki for Paccioretty, in addition to signing Stasny. I'd like Stan to give George a call to see if they'd want Anisimov for 3C.......Hawks would be vastly improved if they signed the DUO of NYI power forwards in Brock Nelson for 2C and Anders Lee for top 6 power winger

Agree with you and Savetheembers on this. Keith and Seabrook are going to retire as Blackhawks and help mentor the new wave of blueliners. Eventually they may become the 3rd pair, actually. An expensive 3rd pair at that.

Once Keith and Seabrook are retired or moved on in some other fashion:

Beaudin - Jokiharju
Carlsson - Boqvist
Hillman - Mitchell
Krys

Not likely to happen since this doesn't take in to account future drafts, trades, and free agent signings. But if all of these prospects hit their potential, that's a pretty good blueline.

I don’t think the discussion comparing TT to NS was about TT being some all-star the NS should be emulating.

Rather, that Teravainen - at 23 last year / 24 this year - seems to have turned his game, training, practices around from the young 18-20 year old who wouldn’t engage and would rather play golf all summer to a quality player who had strengthened himself and work on deficiencies in the off-season.

That’s what we hope Schmaltz’ path is, too.

That's what the discussion was, hopefully Schmaltz can emulate TT's path? ....... Schmaltz has improved/developed/trained. In Jrs kid was allergic to his zone, 3 yrs at UND he's a legit backchecker 2 zone player.

Toews has always been streaky, I'm hoping it's just that. But we'll see how the season unfolds.

Let’s hope the Hawks get back on track with the losing ASAP. Can’t afford many more wins. Especially after that annoying start to the season when we picked up far too many points.

I really hope so, it's funny that some get upset about the fair criticism Schmaltz gets. Right now to me he's half a hockey player, will not play against the walls if an opponent has eyes on him. Talented yes. Plays like a chicken poop YES, 5-7 year deal HELL NO!!! trade him Nah you won't get much for him. I stand by my statement earlier, i can't stand watching him play
