If we trade Gardiner, we automatically rid ourselves of the opposition's best offensive threat - PatC80
I know you're half joking but if the Leafs trade or let Gardiner go, they're also losing a lot of offense. The Leafs lead the league in stretch passes and Gardiner last year completed more than anybody in the league. Everyone points out the giveaways but if his passing percentage was compared to NFL quarterbacks, he'd be like 70-75% completion rating. That's not easy to replace. |

After what they traded for O’Rielly can’t see it. Highly doubt they will ‘Shattenkirk’ Pietrangelo. - Blazed
And acquiring O'Rielly has done nothing for them. They still suck. Any team that ends up in a lottery position could blow it up. It's not that unrealistic.
Also, if they intend on re-signing Pietrangelo, it'll cost them a lot of money. They also have to sign Schenn too. And their cap space isn't plentiful. Nylander may be expensive, but he'd be cheaper than keeping both those two. |

Well said (gross), I actually don’t despise Gardiner. I’d be ok with moving on but let’s not pretend it wouldn’t leave a big hole.

Pretty sure they would assissinate Bozak and sign Pietrangelo before letting him walk. |

The size of the hole, is dependent on if Dermott can take over for him. |

Big surprise to all the people who thought Dermott would replace Gardiner by now. |

I am not Gardiner fan, but you are talking about a Dman with nearly 100pts in 2 season....not many D men in the NHL like that. - Cooshie
Gardiner is a polarizing player. One day you like one day you hate. I like him because when he’s on his game one of the best. When karlson and doutby have bad games you don’t here about it. I’m at 11 million makin mistakes on our back end or 6-7mlion. Keep gardiner unless you can’t crunch him under cap |
