you think thats what the Kings are thinking?
Seems like a good buy low deal for the Pens - senstroll
Almost 4 million for another 3 years....
Has almost an identical PPG to Connor brown.
Do you want a Connor Brown for 4 million? Nope. Hard pass. |

Yeah, I don't think too many people are buying Hagelin at the deadline. He's 30 and has less than 100 career goals.
I guess they can get a 4th or something for him, probably. - BINGO!
but if thats the thought, to flip him..couldnt you get the same or maybe more for Pearson?
unless the kings are going full rebuild and blow it up. But DD contract doesnt start until next season at 11 mil ..whats the point then of signing him that much that long
until I see more, I just think its a bit of a desperate move for the Kings to shuffle some things and trade a player who has had a very bad start |

Holy crap did ugtard even sleep at all or just keep going for 30 some odd pages?
Well not a bad deal happens between the Pens and Kings, and if Im Pearson I do believe there is a Santa Claus. Get shelled 5-1, and then come off the ice and go join Pittsburgh?! He is in heaven today!!
Santos has it right there Haglin will get moved for a pick and Kings starting to try and shake things up some but Pearson isn't really who they had to move, only who they could.
Be interesting to see what happens but yeah kinda tired of flogging the dead horse here again and again on Nylander. Expect end of the week, at the latest next week and finally this will resolve itself. |

An below average player that had a horrible start.
They ridded themselves of a bad contract. |

Pearson may be a bit harder to trade with the extra term, I guess? Even so, even if they do flip Hagelin for a pick, I dunno how easily you replace Pearson for less than the $3.75 he was making... It's a weird trade and if Pearson rebounds even a little the Pens win easily. |

he had 3 40 point seasons in a row and has just fallen off now, I have to believe he has hit some bad luck on a poop team. he has 25 shots and no goals.. thats going to change
still only 26..will get a chance to play with a good center now I bet |

People don't want to believe it but there's nothing abnormal or unforseeable about this negotiation. WN's camp want to leverage as best they can and both sides are going to use every allowable piece of leverage provided by the CBA.
Guessing ...Dubas' plan of attack would be to stick to his best case scenario (a long term deal under 7 mill per year) until mid November if necessary. WN's plan of attack would be to hold out for either a long term deal at more than 7 or to get a bridge deal done.
Dubas refuses to table the bridge ...
WN refuses to accept the long term deal ...
Dubas is a smart guy so he now turns to his two remaining options ...
a) sniff around and see if somebody will overpay; or
b) table a bridge deal and get on with those negotiations.
If he doesn't get blown away by offers they should be able to agree to a bridge contract pretty quickly. WN will get a signing bonus and have lost almost nuttin' and the Leafs will add another elite fwd to the mix.
win win ... - The Law
It's likely accurate. The corroborating reporting being that the Leafs went long-term at $6m and Nylander went long-term at $8m. Apparently the Leafs went bridge at $4.5m and Nylander went bridge at $6m.
Really, the only place is Nylander bridging @ $5m.

Good trade by the Kings
Get rid of a potential bad long term contract for a winger they can deal at the deadline for picks. - Santo_44
Its a salary dump. Hags is a ufa at the end of the season. |

At his contract that is bad. There is a salary cap in this league and it’s very important. You can’t blow it on 3rd line players. |

Exactly.
They get rid of a bad contract.
Some on here think it’s fine to take a chance on a 3rd line player with a bad contract...I don’t get it. |

Think it is ok if your window is now and your team needs a message and shake up like Pittsburgh. Pearson is a good player, LA just overpayed some, as they did with many of their players to keep that team together, unfortunately somewhat too long as the game evolved and their team didn't.
It's a minor move for LA but honestly, salary dump yes, but LA doesn't have a lot of contracts that are really moveable either. |

$3.75 is less than 5% of the salary cap right now. If he's providing you with 15~ goals, He's outperforming his contract.
That's a good number for somebody who can get you 35-40 points (provided he can do that going forward) |

If you have the cap space, sure.
The pens needed a change, they got younger.
La needs cap space, they get it at the end of the season. |

GM Kyle Judas really needs to deliver for the Leafs.
Have to either sign Nylander and then trade him this off-season (really don't see any future for Nylander with this team; starting with cap issues for Leafs after this year), or trade him already before 1st of Dec.
If it's a trade, better bring a good young FW back in a deal (either one-for-one, or a bigger deal that would include a top6 winger). |

Leaf fans would throw up in their mouths and ask for the GMs head if he traded for a 4 million dollar 3rd line player.
No thank you. |

I’m sure they tried which is why they traded for a UFA pending player...so they can flip him for value.
Person obviously had no value around the league and rightfully so. |

Dont know about that, value is subjective to the team. Pittsburgh obviously can see a 20 goal scorer that plays both ends well, is younger than Haglin and can come in and strengthen their third line and provide some depth scoring. I think yeah a lot of teams look at the cap hit and it isn't bad but not great, but Pearson had some value.
This was not star player type of deal there.
As for leafs fans female doging about acquiring a 4 mil 3rd liner, ummm what's Kadri?! Leaf fans just love to female dog period about any and everything and if the GM gives a damn what we all think they clearly are not the right person for the job which is more of an issue there |

Sure, but that's because the Leafs are extremely top heavy (or are about to be) and don't have much money to spend on depth guys. |

Just because Kadri plays in the 3rd like does not make him a 3rd line player....
And no, he didn’t have any value around the league. Haglin is who they got for him...think they had better offers but just turned them down because (frank) it?
Nope. No one wanted to trade for a 4 million dollar 3rd line player who is struggling. |

In a salary cap world it’s a bad player to have.
The pens should of taken the cap space next season. They will need it.
But now they have a 3rd line player instead... |
