One thing the pundits are not taking into account is if teams really want him they have to up the ante over the other teams. Slavin might not be in play, but if say Anaheim switched from Montour to Manson in a deal it might move Carolina to say ok we really want him and shift.

Always such a fluid moving thing, and there is clearly interest in acquiring him. Still think it will be end of this week something happens one way or another.

If it gets you the best player at his position, in his prime, yeah, it is the better move. And what a lot of you are conveniently missing is the 2nd half of the deal which is to replace Rielly by moving Nylander for a LHD like Lindholm or Fowler or somebody like that.
