Could we have gotten more? Possibly but the horse has been beaten to death and is fine powder by now....no one is ever going to fully agree if it was a bad trade or not....what it did do for us is bring in a shut down defender which is something we really needed....not as sexy as a Doughty or Burns but he has been effective in his role since he has arrived.....lots of bad decisions have been made this is rather far from the top of my list

Totally, the trade accomplished what it was supposed to accomplish, a top 4 RHD with the potential of a top 2. Pretty much nobody is going to trade a existing top pairing RHD for a LW so that's really the only way to go.

Hoffman may have been a nice add, but his gf would have been calling for him to make the same money as drai. And he was already on over pay.not worth it.

Would bringing back Sam Gagner be a good thing for this team?
Vancouver has him buried in the AHL, however he is producing at a PPG pace over there.
Perhaps he could be an option to explore in order to bolster our top 6 or at the very least our top 9? We could try him as a winger.

Majority of his contract is signing bonus which cannot be bought out. It is guaranteed in the event of a work stoppage. It's really not worth it to buy him out. Too much in guaranteed money.
