Let Gards walk, promote Liljegren next year.

Spit balling.

- AdamFrench

I like spit balling ideas.

But Liljegren, as a rookie, that's a huge unknown for 82 NHL games plus playoffs. That right side would still be a disaster.

Nylander's not getting 8 mil on any NHL team, never mind Toronto.

If he did, someone would have sent in an offer sheet near the start of the season or even before.

No one's stupid enough to give 8 mil to a guy with 2 years of experience, no sign of improvement year over year in points, and getting only 61 points while playing with Matthews and also getting top line minutes (not 3rd line like Kadri).

Hell, Bozak on the wing could've potted 50+ points with his stone hands, and he was dominating faceoffs too.

If he was on no-name market team, he'd be lucky to get over 5.5 mil a year. I primarily blame the media in Toronto over-inflating numbers while not being aware of what players get paid around to rest of the league for the same output.

Matthews has never put up more than 69 points but they're talking about him getting more than McDavid at over 100 points. Weed might've been legalized recently but the media here was smoking it way before that.

Also, apparently Pastrnak wasnt good enough of a comparable...lol...I'd trade 2 Nylanders for'em at this point.

- Buggy166

Let's not forget that there are more photos of Bigfoot than there are of Nylander going into a corner during the playoffs!

Leafs fans are delusional. Won't pay the kid but also won't take anything less than a Erik Karlsson equivalent via trade.

Maybe. Depends on which one. If something needs to be added, so be it. But Nylander would be the central piece.

I forgot, Evan Bouchard works too.

Oh ok if the Leafs add then sure it’s possible I just assumed you thought it would be that simple to land a true #1 blueliner......there is a reason why they are worth as much as they are....hardest to draft/develop and you will almost never find one as a UFA....Bouchard isn’t one yet but if they are in the market for trading for someone who has the potential then it’s different too

I think Florida is really interesting. I wonder if they'd do it.

St.Louis might. Carolina might as well.

Unsure about Doughty leaving LA.

so may holes in this
an 8 mil offer sheet would be 4 first round picks. So yeah. if you wanted him you are better off sending a trade offer

If you mention Nylander plays with Matthews and also mention Pastrnak you have to include that he plays with 2 Matthews.

Lets be honest, if WN played on a line with Marchand and Bergeron he would probably get a few more looks than with Hyman.

Pastrnak is good, but looking at the goals he scored sat against the Leafs, the first 2 he just had to stand beside the net..the puck was put on his stick. his linemates are 2 of the best in the league

Exactly. Plus Matthews is on a 15-20 missed games a year roll as well. That being the case they can't even give him 10 million. McD is another level entirely, and the media is looking like dumb dumbs on this one. Nylander thinks he's worth more than his former teammate coming off 36 goals and multiple 25 goal years. I like the idea of Parayko +, or someone mentioned Gardner, Nylander + for Doughty.

That's why he does so well against the Leafs, just stand beside the net, no one will bother you.

I doubt it too but those are the names they need to be looking at. Nylander is the golden ticket to get a #1 RHD. Anything less than that is a waste of an asset.
