Oh, How many games does Karlsson need to get settled in and start playing defensive hockey??

Just wondering ?

I dont use him as an example for the same reason I dont see Pastrnak as one..they are not really great examples.

its just as easy to say LD is 8.5 for 29 goals, Willy is easily 7.5 or 8
But thats dumb

- senstroll

I agree, but I'm saying from an agent's perspective.. Why wouldn't you use him as a comparable?

Hopefully, Nylander and his camp come to the realization that he is not worth that much $$. Although, according to Mitch Marner's Freudian slip, it's Nylander's agent that is being an asshat

Why, because Chi is a (frank)in dummy and drastically overpaid. Is that what makes it easy, or because it fits your rant?

Which is it.

I don't know, maybe.. I just figured that after 2 years of his poor defensive play that SJ will be forced to play him as a forward..

I think what really killed the RFA market was the Draisaitl signing in Edmonton.
Most deals are a little higher AAV then they should be, and that's fine because you are buying up some UFA years, but the Draisaitl deal ruined RFA contracts for players coming off their ELC.

- PatC80

That deal did seem to fall outside the 'norm'. Willie's next 5 years are tied up by the RFA tag .....arb decisions and other signings create the precedent. His RFA years are probably 5 years at an average of about 6 million. But the Leafs want to buy UFA years and WN could easily argue that in 5 years he'll be a 10+ million dollar player. If Dubas wants 8 years then WN could easier argue he's worth 60 million.

The bridge deal makes the most sense and it seems to be a good thing for the Leafs because they can bypass the Marleau contract. I'd still guess that Dubas will offer the 2 or 3 year deal next week and this will get done. They give him a big signing bonus and WN avoids losing money in year one.

A bridge deal, and we're opening up to a potential Subban situation. I think Dubas needs to stick to what's being offered
