Stick with these top two defensive pairings and let Murphy and Forsling be your third pairing when healthy.

Attacking Rocky is ridiculous. He hired McD to resurrect the Hawks, and all that ensued was the most successful period in their history, with the franchise (which according to Bryan Smith's recent book "The Breakaway"was losing $30M each year!) increasing fivefold in value from $200M to $1B during McD's watch. So those hoping for McD to be terminated -- it just isn't happening. McD handles the day-to-day operation so that Rocky can run his liquor, real estate and banking businesses.

After the Hawks missed the playoffs for the first time, Rocky warned that change would happen if things didn't improve. Well, they didn't improve, and 15 games in, change happened -- specifically a coaching change. This was the logical first step in trying to right the ship, and unlike firing Stanbo, this is the only organizational change that could possibly make a difference this season.

Now, Rocky and McD can see how this roster performs under a different coach. If it improves significantly, great. Stan (who I myself loath) could say "See I had a good roster, all it took was a new coach to develop it, who by-the-way I picked out."

If the team's performance doesn't improve, firing the exposed Stan would be Rocky and McD's next logical move. Meanwhile, they will have had the opportunity to further assess JC. If they like him, they can look for a new GM who they think would work well with him. If not, they fire JC, bring in a new GM, and let him hire his coach.

Give Rocky credit for being a smart, logical businessman. He is the exact opposite of what his father, who put Hawks' fans through decades of hell, was. Be thankful he is the Hawks' owner.

The weak little poke the stick at the puck passes instead of blasting into the opposing player and try to win the battle ... pathetic effort. It's one of the reasons opposing teams get the Hawks running around in the d-zone. The phrase 50/50 puck battle should be renamed 90/10 puck battle when teams play the Hawks.

Q was coaching that for years. I've seen Gus and Keith play the body tonight a little more than usual.

I will admit that I didn't like JC's changes at all. He gets an assist so far. I don't mind being wrong. He's a sneaky devil on the line changes. A great game so far.

I really don't understand what Toews was doing the entire PK, JUST (frank)ing awful. Takes a behind angle hustles back only to release the forward to the front of the net, WTF

There's the Hawks we know and used to love. In the blink of an eye Joki shies away from contact and the score is tied.

Cam Ward can’t make a save during the PK. His PKSV% is .15 below Crawford, now even worse after two goals in a row. Dumb move starting him tonight.

He has really become a lazy defenseman, also still to many players not willing to take a hit or make a hit to make a play.
