BOSTON -- David Pastrnak signed a six-year, $40 million contract with the Boston Bruins on Thursday. It has an average annual value of $6.67 million.
The 21-year-old forward was a restricted free agent. He set NHL career highs in points (70), goals (34) and assists (36) in 75 games last season after he had 53 points (25 goals, 28 assists) in 97 games his first two NHL seasons. He was second on the Bruins in goals and assists in the final year of his three-year, entry-level contract.
Pastrnak missed the first day of training camp Thursday and is expected to join the Bruins by Saturday.

Sweeney said there's always risk in signing a young player to the term and salary Pastrnak received. But the Bruins have faith Pastrnak will continue to mature into a player worth the contract.
"He scored 34 goals; it probably starts there," Sweeney said. "He really went to work on his shot, his overall strength, his ability to get to areas of the ice."

This is probably my biggest strength as a player as well. I can get to literally any area of the ice. It might take a bit of time and be extremely tiring but I can get there.

He hasn’t earned 7 based on comparable deals.

20 and 22 goals...sorry it does not match Pasta’s 34 or Gaudreaus 25 and 30.

And the fact he wants 6 at 3 years is laughable.

- Santo_44

you have to look at the comparables fairly. age matters.

JG at 20 and 21 had 1 point at then 64
WN had 13, 61 and 61 at the same age.

it safe to assume that WN would probably put up 70 points with this leafs team..maybe 75..possibly more

if he signs for 6 mil, then puts up 75 points..he left a ton of money on the table he can never get back over 7 or 8 years

The truth is that the vast majority of "reports" are utter poope.

Do people really think that the Sportsnet panel is going to go into the intermission of a Leafs game and say "Nylander watch: we don't know what's happening so let's wait until we do"?????????

It's like Stephen A Smith in the NBA. He spews out absolute dumb poop, daily, and people get all pissed off and start furiously posting, tweeting, etc. IT'S WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO DO. THEY DON'T BELIEVE THE poop THEY'RE SAYING. THEY WANT YOUR CLICKS AND ENGAGEMENTS FFS.

Probably?
He hasn't.
Besides, if hes as good as he and his dad thinks he is, he could make up the money is sponsorship.
As of now, hes a 60 point guy playing with one of the best centres in the league.

I get that, but that's the dilemma for Dubas as well... Dubas shouldn't overpay Nylander for something that he may or may not become until maybe the 3rd to 5th year. It's not easy to get 75 points in the NHL anymore.

In any event not an equitable trade, but besides that he is paid more than he produces - unlike Reilly who makes $5 million a year.
- winsix

Agreed. He was paid more hoping he would excel and eventually play better then his contract. Not the case yet

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Jets agreed to terms on a $42-million, seven-year contract extension with forward Nikolaj Ehlers on Wednesday.
The extension begins a year from now and carries an average annual value of $6 million, the Jets said in a release.
Ehlers, 21, had 64 points (25 goals, 39 assists) in 82 games for the Jets last season. The six-foot 172-pound native of Aalborg, Denmark had 38 points (15-23) in his rookie season.
Ehlers, the ninth overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, is a key part of the Jets’ young core with Calder Trophy runner-up Patrik Laine and Mark Scheifele.
"As Nik’s linemate and good buddy, it’s awesome to see a nice guy like that get rewarded," Laine said. ""Nik’s going to be a leader for this team for many years."
"He can play both wings, he can play with different centres, he’s made a huge jump from the end of last year," added Jets head coach Paul Maurice.
Winnipeg missed the playoffs last season after finishing fifth in the Central Division with 87 points.

Yeah, a bridge deal would be a loss for Dubas. At this point though, I think no matter what happens, it's a loss for everybody involved.

But what is his value now..9, 10+ probably more

Crazy how I didn't even think about KK.

He's obviously untouchable.
